hi i am searching for a mithilda gilling born 1891 in shadforth durham uk.her mam was born in ireland and it is possible she went to ireland to live.after 1891-1901 census she just seems to go missing.if anyone can help

Paul just come across one of your old posts 2011, which mentions different parents for Matilda, have you bought her birth cert?

Parents as per the 1901 were born in Durham (Henry) and Derbyshire ( Annie)...not Ireland.

have you any more details that might help with a search?

bit of a discrepancy here so not entirely sure.....

can you get me or to lead me to that last census.my mam was told by her aunt mithilda/merilda went to ireland and she looked like another family member.iv found john gilling only on 1911 census andrew gilling was my grandad

Paul what ever you have been told, what ever the census says, her name was registered as MATILDA.
its pointless looking at other spellings in records.

Searching for Gilling does not find Matilda,though there is one Walter Gilling in Co Down who was not there in 1901. It is possible that Matilda did go to Ireland and married there before the 1911 census so you would have to look for a marriage for her first..

andrew gilling was born shadforth ,durham in 1888 thats my mams dad.he had siblings....elizabeth s gilling(who on 1901 census had a george hudson listed as son in law)margaret gilling....matilda(mithilda?)walter,john.thomas.i have found living relatives of john and walter gilling.cant find were thomas.elizabeth.mithilda,margaret went after 1901 census.all the above were born shadforth or there about..any help on who there father henry gilling born north shields and his age flucuates from 1846-1853.and his wife who i think was annie crooks though there is another possible wife annie kilbride.thanks in advance

Paul you have her as Ann Brooks on your tree on Ancestry, you must buy Matilda's birth cert from the GRO to confirm her parents names,
when you are certain of that then this is likely to be the marriage, buying the certificate for it will give you Henry and Ann's father's names and occupations...which will help you pinpoint Henry's on census before his marriage.

Yea true coz I can't find henry gilling on earlier cencusis wen he lived with his parents.someone found possible marriage for matilda in belfast earlier in post if it told mothers maiden name I'd know it was her

Paul the marriage I found for Matilda does not give any more detail than posted unfortunately, you would need to get the certificate to see who she married , father's name will be on it , but not mother's maiden name.
