When starting out in Family History birth records are a good place to start. They can give you vital information that will not only verify what you have found, but will help you with further research. We have indexed birth records for England and Wales, Parish baptisms and overseas military births.

Add in the forename and surname of the person you are looking for. You can widen the search by ticking the 'name variants' box. So not only will you see exact matches, you will also see similar name matches too.

If you are not sure of the birth year, you can search up to ten years either side of it.
You can add a place under ‘Optional Keywords’ if there are too many results.
We suggest you add either a county or a town. If you do not get the result you are looking for, try again, leaving these fields blank.
