| About a month or two ago I put a message out asking for help to find other living relatives of my great x 2 uncle, Music Hall singer/comedian Alec Hurley and I would like to say many thanks to all the people who replied and gave me advice and helped to point me in the right direction. Since then, I've now traced 3 long-lost cousins who I I'm in touch with via phone and email and we're hoping to meet up in the near future. Once again, thank you for your help. Gill | ||||

| I had been trying to find my Uncle who had left England on the Youth migration scheme my Dad died not knowing what had happened to his brother last contact was with my Grandmother in 1930 two years after he left England aged 15 years. Thanks to a member on this site she found his name on the passenger list of the SS Beltana which left London in 1928 for Sydney Australia from there I was able to trace his movements and found he went to Australia as one of the Dreadnought boys so although to late for my Dad to know at least I had some answers so thank you to this site maureen | ||||
| A lost relative.........never giveup when GR is ab | Paul | 02/05/2010 21:32:36 | 0 | |
| We have searched and searched for my Uncle Walter W., second husband to one of my Mother's sisters. For well over a year progress was absolutely nil despite believing that he was a Bedfordshire man. We had searched census records, Free BMD and other ancestry sites to no avail. But..............as a long shot, having spotted a possible connection in Genes Reunited, I sent off a message with fingers and everything else crossed! Much to my surprise, I quickly received a return message informing me that, although this member didn't think our Walters were related, he (Shaun M), had taken the time and trouble to help me out! Earlier stabs at other Walter W's had not brought results and other members had not answered! Not only had he found what we believe to be my Walter and his wife, but his parents and siblings!! Now how's that for a perfect example of a friendly and helpful GR member? Consequently, I can certainly recommend Genes Reunited and its comprehensive search opportunities to anyone that is having trouble with locating a relative / ancestor. Don't give up!!! | ||||
| So much gained from such a little outlay! | Paulline | 29/04/2010 23:59:26 | 0 | |
| I subscribe to a number of sites, and some of them are VERY expensive! But Genes Reunited has been responsible for me finding so many relatives - some as close as first cousins - and all for such a small outlay financially. I teach family History for beginners at my local Community centre, and this is the first and most important site i recommend. So not only has genes Reunited helped me, but also the hundreds of people I have introduced it to. Next month i am travelling to the UK and meeting up with all the new family members I have found - thank you so much Genes Reunited!!! Pauline | ||||

| Many thanks to everyone who has helped me over the last few weeks. Special thanks to those who have released their trees to me. I began my search with very little information and now have over 200 people on my list. Special thanks to David, Graham, and Joan who gave so much information at the beginning. As an only child of an only child I now have a sense of family. Anne | ||||
