This is just to say thank you to everyone who has helped me, some info has been invaluable other bits not the same family . But without help for others most of us would not have progresses as far as we have. i certainly would not have.
So Thanks again and keep up the great work. I very much appreciate all the help I have received

By using Genes, we discovered one of my best friends is my husbands 2nd cousin! We had no idea, so when out baby was baptised we asked her to be Godmother. I have also found a half brother, half sister, nieces and nephews, aunties, and countless cousins and 2nd, 3rd, and even 4th cousins!! All by starting with Genes in 2005.

my dad has a family Peter 29/03/2010 19:14:11 0
my father was placed in the Thomas coram school in 1941 after his mother could not afford to keep him, she tried for 9 months but it was to much, his name was changed and he was fostered out. he tried several times to trace his mother and it was not until i had access to the internet that i began to trace his roots. we discovered his mother passed away in 1993 but i could not find anyone that was related to her until feb 2009. it was then i found joan, his cousin, she was researching the family for her mother and they are both in australia. they have been able to fill in the last 69 years for my dad, provide pictures of his mum and extended family. in additon on new years eve 2005 i found my half brother that i have been looking for for the last 14 years... all thanks to this site

Found after 98 years - my father's blood relatives Julia 25/03/2010 21:44:53 0
My father was born in 1912 in Staffordshire and due to his mother being widowed he was adopted aged 3 because his mother had to go into service and couldn't afford to keep him, He always knew he had a sister and remembered being taken to visit her when he was small. His real mother tried to contact him in 1956 when he was 42 but he declined. He had spent 20 years maintaining his adopted mother due to her being widowed and feared he would be starting again. In his last years he expressed regret at never having known any blood relatives and I searched the microfilm in the library in search of his sister but it is only since joining genes reunited I got a match at last with his real family and have now visited them and have photos of his mother and sister which has been such a thrill. The pieces of the jigsaw have been fitted together at last thanks to Genes Reunited
two half sisters Leslie 25/03/2010 09:11:39 0
When i started doing my family tree, i remember two girls visiting our house with my dad when i was about 5 yeears old, and i always wondered who they were, i have a photograph of myself stood outside the house with the girls. Dad had been married before he was very young at the time which was a bit of a shock, anyway i found the marriage certificate then i looked for children and found two girls born in 1926 and 1928, I had two half sisters but where were they living? I managed to trace one sister so i wrote to her she was over the moon we met up and what a wonderful happy emotional day we all shared , and the two girls in the photo were my two neices and not my sisters. If only i had traced my family tree earlier i would have met my other half sister but she had past away which was sad. I was shown lots of photos of my grandparents and i learnt lots about my dad that i didnt know,he died aged 60 when i was 9, so my half sister was able to show me photos, tell me about what he was like as a young man and her dad too. I have a family that i didnt have before and i am happy we started this journey doing the family tree with genes reunited. thanks.
Half brothers William 23/03/2010 17:44:39 0
Thank you all who helped us. I found our half brother and am in correspondence with him and plan to meet up later. I also found our fathers birth date I think. But doesn't matter now anyway. And also found we have a big family from our half brother. Great. And it all happened so quickly.

My late father had always claimed to have no living relatives. However, since joining this site I have now met up with 2 of his cousins. One of them is 92 and remembers my father's mother, who died before I was 3. IT was so wonderful to hear her say "Everybody loved her" I also phoned another elderly cousin in Australia, and it turns out he worked with my dad and my grandfather, whom I never knew! It's so special to me as I knew nothing about him before.. K

Hi all.
We have been searching for my Grandad for many years. I started to look again in Jan, i almost gave up, I was looking for a very common name, and to cut a very long story short the hours of searching and the kind help of many people on this site i found out he died 2 years ago! To our delight though, he had three more children to who we are in contact with, and plan to meet in the summer. Big thank you again to all that helped xxx
