Could anyone help locate John Abbott. Born 1860 -61, Burstall, Suffolk.
John was widowed in 1910, worked in Samford Workhouse. 1911 census saw him living with his neice for awhile. Some say he may have revisited Australia or he could have gone to the London area? Does anyone know anyway to follow this up. There is a possibility he may even got married again. Completely at a loss where to look next and any help would be really appreciated. Would like to know where he is buried. :-)

This is appended to a Public Family Tree on ancestry:-

" ................... In the 1911 census, one year after the death of his wife their father is listed as an inmate at the Samford Union Workhouse, Tattingston, Suffolk England and is believed to have died there. There is no record that he had any contact with his two sons. "

This is an extract from a letter on that same tree (written by an 80+ year old lady) ...............

"I was very happy to get your letter, and the Abbott family tree but I'm afraid I can't help you much. I sent your letter on to my brother but he couldn't remember any more than I could, but I'll tell you the little I know.

.
John, Uncle Jack we called him, lived with us for some years, he came back from Australia just before Worl War I. He had 2 sons, one I think is still living, I don't know about the eldest one. When his (John's) wife died the children were brought up by his wife's relations and I don't think they ever visited their father. He was very angry about coming back to England. He said his wife's mother wanted her daughter back and wrote and said she was very ill which was untrue and I think Jack's wife died before her mother. I was only a small child, so I may not have got it all right, but I was old enough to know he was an embittered man.

---------------------

I ead that as referring to your John Abbott ............. so the implication is that he died not long after his wife, but whether in the workhouse or after staying with this lady's family, is of conjecture.

Other comments in that letter seem to indicate that the family lived in Burstall, at least when she was young

If I were you, I would look closely in the records on here, or on freebmd for possible deaths in or around Burstall, Suffolk
