Thanks so much for the posted information. I was at the Who Do You Think You Are Exhibition in London yesterday when they showed me how to use the Board. The information I have so far was supplied by someone in Australia who has a family member who married Margaret Breen. I am trying to find my Irish Great Grandfather connection but have so far hit a brick wall.

My Grandfather is John Patrick Breen born 25.12.1865 in Isle of Mile. He married a Frances Emily O'Neil who was born in Manchester in Sept 1867 and married on 01.11.1891 in Woolwich, UK. I have their Marriage Certificate. She died on 11.03.1947 in Woolwich, UK.

Through the contact in Australia, I was told that John Breen had a number of siblings and his parents were also John Breen born c1830 and Bridget Learoklin born c1832. I understood from my Father, who is now deceased, that they were Irish. I was told the following information regarding the siblings:

Bridget Breen - born c1851 in Ireland - no information on where?

James Breen - born c1852 in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. He was a jockey who had a fatal fall in South Australia on a horse called Trump on 12.07.1879. His widow (no known information) had money raised for her according to Sydney Morning Herald 14.07.11879.

Simon Breen - born c1853 in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. He was apparently also a jockey who died in a riding accident. No confirmation of this though.

Delia Breen - born c 1854 in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. No other info known

Margaret Breen - born c1863 in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. She married James Kennedy on 05.02.1880 in Sale, Victoria, Australia and died on 15.01.1937 at Dandenong, Australia

There were a number of Bridget Breens arriving in Australia in the 1850s so would be easy to mix records up. If Sally ever gets back to this thread more info is needed.

We really need to know where Sally got her information. to check it..... but I don't think that will happen.

A Public Family Tree says that Bridget Learchlin was born in Ireland in 1832 .......


....... and died in 1937, age 105

John Breen was also born in Ireland



and Margaret Breen was born in 1863 in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia
