Is there anyone out there who could possibly be related to the Canterbury family from Arklow, County Wicklow ? My mother was Annie Canterbury born 1901 in Arklow and died in Cardiff in 1958, her married name was Byrne. She had a brother William who was born in 1899 and died around 1932 in New York. She also had a sister Rachel who was born 1906 and died in London in 1968, her married name was Keane. Their parents (my grandparents) were George Canterbury and Elizabeth, maiden name Larkin or Lackin, who lived at Halls Lane, Arklow. If there is anyone who could be from the same family, however close or distant, please get in touch, it would be so nice to hear from you. Regards, Winifred.

Hi Barbara. This is a bit of a long-shot but here goes. Are you connected at all with a Canterbury family who resided at York terrace, Dublin in 1901? The family head was a widow LUCY Canterbury aged 64 years and born Wexford. All others were born Wicklow and in particular Arklow. Her husband had died previously. Daughters were - Julia / Kate / Anne and sons James / Patrick and Michael. I am trying to ascertain if Kate (Catherine) married David Murphy in Dublin in 1905sh. The boys were shipwrights and house agent and the girls were dressmakers. If this is correct family there may also be a connection with a tobacconist / newsagents shop in Dublin and a possibility that one of the boys joined the Diplomatic Service?
