Hi, Can anyone help me. I have just got my grandparents marriage certificate and I am looking for my great grandad Robert James Evans. He was a coal miner. I am told they lived in Bargoed at the time of my grandad Albert Edwards birth. I believe he was married in Manchester and they lived in Abergavenny. They had 5 children, Albert Edward, Sydney, Arthur, Walter and Ella.

All the children were born in Glamorgan apart from William who was born in Warwick

There is a marriage 1892 in Glamorgan but unfortunately there are two Sarahs on the page: Sarah Ann Thomas and Sarah Calvert

I am still looking for Robert James Evans but now I have his marriage certificate with his fathers name. He was William Evans and he was deceased before Roberts marriage in October 1892. I have been told one of my ancestors was pregnant to the son of a wealthy family. He died the day before the wedding & his family disowned her. Was it Williams mother? I think William was born in Manchester. Can you help me find them.

I am still looking for Robert James Evans birth certificate. I have his marriage certificate. Robert James married Sarah Ann Calvert on the 19th October 1892. Sarah was born in Manchester. Robert was a miner. They both lived in 56 Hill Side or Hill Tide Terrace Watts Town Glamorgan. Their Fathers names were William Evans & Reuben Calvert both deceased at the time of the marriage. Witnesses were H Ridding & Lillian Annie Wright. The marriage was at the St Paul's Church Llanwonno Glamorgan. At the age of 4 Robert was living with his grandfather William and it looks like he has a brother Albert. Can anyone please help me.

Hi Pauline

"The area he was born is Glamorganshire. I think it may have been Llantillio Pertholy"

what makes you think this as I think Llantillio Pertholey is in Monmouthshire near Abergavenny.

his birth may not have been registered as it was not compulsory until 1875

lancashireAnn Report 21 Nov 2009 16:00

You have said you think they were living in Bargoed at the time of your grandfather Albert Edwards birth. Do you have his birth certificate which would prove both his parents names.
You said at first you thought his parents married in Manchester but the certificate you bought was for a marriage in Glamorgan. Do you know his mother was definitely called Sarah?

also from you first post you seemed to think that the Robert Evans 1901 census posted was the right one but the children's names only match 2 of those you listed.

Maybe with the year and place of birth of at least Grandfather Albert they may be able to be found on 1911 census and then it can all be checked that info is correct?
Although some of Grandfathers siblings years of birth would be a big help?
