www.freebmd.org.uk is a free site ....... and accessible to anyone

It carries bmds from Septemebr 1837 to about 1920/25 ........ it is still a work in progress.

To fnd records between about 1920 and 1983, one has to search the Complete Index quarter by quarter year by year ....... a very long and tedious job to ask anyone to do for you!

The Complete Index is found on ancestry.co.uk, for which you do need a subscription .... people will look things up for you, but not usually when it involves such a long period of time, with christian names not known.

No-one can look up his parents on the internet.

You will have to buy his birth certificate to find out the names of his parents.

Go to www.freebmd.org.uk to get the full reference.

Then go to www.gro.gov.uk to order the certificate online. The GRO reference number is at the set of 2 numbers to the right of the reference you will have found.

The certificate will cost £7
