I have found a marriage for Patricia I Long and found them on 192 up to 2003 only.

I will pm Gemma with the info and she can try to get in touch and find out if this is David's sister.

Possible for Frederick Jnr:

Marriage
1959 JAS Long Frederick G - Dewick Hazel L - Ealing 5e 546

Child:
Birth
1959 OND Long Sharen T - mmn Dewick - Windsor 6a 343

(I've spelt Sharen as it is on the GRO index)

I'll look and see if I can find a marriage for Patricia, it could take some time.

I was wondering if David's middle name was Bryan????

Lost for Words ;-) Report 9 May 2008 21:15

ditto ValT

The middle initial should help to narrow the list down.
I wonder if their were other siblings, they could have been 20ish by the time David was born and in their early 40s by the time Gemma was born which could explain why they weren't known of !?!

Updated:
ValT - we're obviously on the same wavelength :-)

Their is this birth:

1961 AMJ
Long David B
mmn Bryan
Bermondsey 5c 51

and this one possibly for his mother:

Births Dec 1919 (>99%)
Bryan Ivy L Johnson St. Olave 1d 372

Could be a coincidence, have you found the marriage for Davids parents?

Hi Gemma

You could try looking at old newspapers to see if there were any announcements from family on that death of FWJ Long. The other thing that it might be worth doing is to look at the probate information held in Holborn which, if he left a will, should tell you who the executors were and if you got a copy of the will it might give some other clues. A copy of a will costs £5 I think.
