I can not find a find definite sibling of joans, so maybe if we go back one generation it could be possible to bring them forward.
You never know you could find an ancester who could have some info to fill in the blanks.

Heres a start.
1901 cencus
Daniel welbourne c1864 plungar leicestershire.
Dinah hanlon? c1863 tabberton ireland.
children
Joe white welbourne 1888 carlton notts.
Ellen welbourne c1890 carlton.
John william welbourne c1896 newstead notts.
Ethel welbourne c1899 newstead.

Daniel welbourn-dinah hanlon dec q1887 bingham vol 7b page 693.

Back in an hour richard.

Theres a thought, but im sure she must have had more kids(just a feeling) and besides, My Dad would be the sort to give it to charity under the circumstances, knowing him! Doesn't seem right somehow iykwim?

We spoke last night and all we really hope now is to see a photograph of her, that would be amazing (and maybe trace a sibling.)

Thanks will have a look at the website now!

If she had a will, which seems likely as she left property, at least you have her full name birthdate and last known address.

As she was your fathers mother, it is possible she may have left him something? It might also be possible he is her only heir? These things happen....

Seems likely she would have left a Will. You could apply for a copy, although it may take a while. It will cost £5 whether she left one or not, but if she did, you will get a copy for your fiver! It will hopefully give addresses of her close family.

Back!

Yes Trace, thats her! Thanks!

Kay- thanks will try them tomorrow!! great idea!

Just a thought, i know its prob unlikely with Client confidentiality, but found out at stupid o'clock this morning that she died (Joan) in the August and her house was up for sale in the following May (2007)

maybe if i contacted the agency, they may know who they had dealings with? Son? brother? Do u think thats worth following up? or is it unlikely they will be able to tell me anything?

Im guessing when someone dies their belongings/house goes to next of kin..so they may have been in charge of the sale?? but if there wasn't one they would maybe know if it was done through solicitor?

Hello Richard, will pass on your message, thanks a lot. Yes, finding Joans siblings is my next avenue i guess if she has no children. Her dob 16 feb 1921 , she lived at 40 West Terrace, Hucknall at the time of her Birth, but moved to 33 Bolsover St, Hucknall when she married. Her father was Joe White Welborn and her mother was Gertrude Mary Welborn mmn- Lewis

Joe White Welborn listed as waggon repairer/charge hand/railways

On Joans birth certificate her and her parents are listed at living at 40 West Avenue, Hucknall - i went there last wk and took some pictures for my Dad!
(I live in Lincolnshire, he is in Surrey)

Thanks Richard hope that helps, i have kids to bath and bed, then will be back around eight ish..

Hi lisa
Tell your father it was a pleasure to help but it was unfortunate that joan could not of been found earlier.
Do you want to try and see if joan had any siblings.

I had a quick look earlier regarding her father joe.

Joe white welbourn dec q1888 basford vol 7b page 219.
He died sep q1954 nottingham aged 65 vol 3c page 265.
Before i start do i have the correct joan born 1921 mmn lewis.

Lisa, when I read the news last night that she had died so recently I was so sad for your dad, but as I said to my husband hopefully you will find his sister and at least he will have some of his birth family. With such a lovely daughter as you he probably thinks he has the best family in the world already, but it would be lovely for him to know more about where he comes from.
Let us know when you get the certificates and then we can see where we go from there.

Lisa Report 8 May 2008 18:51

Hi Angela,

thanks for the post,

Yes i rang him this morning with the news, i was dreading doing it and although he suspected they would both have died it was a bit of a shock that it was so recently, and he was quite upset.

He, as i did, has the horrible thoughts of god, if we had only found her before now, and maybe we didn't try hard enough last time etc... i know theres no point in going down the 'what if's' but i guess its only natural. 2yrs ago seems like yesterday in the grand scheme of things, but once its sunk in, im sure it will at least give him chance to move on, and stop wondering all the time where she was.

He was really touched that you all helped me, and asked me to pass on his thanks. We are both very grateful.

When the death certificates arrive, i will let you know if it throws any more light into the possible siblings still living theory in the hope that once again you may all be able to help! if thats ok?!

There is an S Kausman registered in the old phone books in the Teddington Area...wonder if this is Sheila? its the right sort of area to where she was born (ish)!

Will keep bashing on with my hunt,

thank you all again!
