really Richard? Thank you, thats interesting, will investigate!!

Well, i just searched for the name Kausman on fbmd from all years, do i need to do it individually? Maybe thats my mistake?

WayneTracey Report 7 May 2008 21:45

I have just found the Joan you mention on my trace site, but the recency of that is actually 2006, someone else has been there since 2007 - 2008...:(

Lisa

Lisa Report 7 May 2008 21:43

yeah im not bothered about going backwards really, that would nice in time, but would just really like to find out if Joan was alive, if Sheila is alive, if she was my Dads half sister, or if he had any children with Joan that would be related.

Trouble is, its such a sensitive subject, as my theory is that Joan and Harry were having an affair during his marriage to Margaret..and this is why she had him adopted...

So how on earth i would even contact someone if i did trace a living relative would be tricky! "By the way your Dad had an affair" etc...but will cross that bridge if i ever come to it!

just be nice to give my Dad some idea of what happened...he isn't bitter at all, but just always had a yearning to know why he was given up iykwim?

He has tried several times over the past 60 yrs, but there hasn't been the technolgy to help him.

Isnt the internet amazing ;-)

When you say that you have searched for joan and gordon,s death have you checked year by year.
There is also the possibility that they are still alive.
Being the surname kausman is quite unusual there is a Joan kausman on the 2002-2007 electoral roll 192.com.

richard.

WayneTracey Report 7 May 2008 21:36

Are you wanting to go backwards too??

I think maybe we ought to find a marriage for Sheila?

What do you think?

Lisa Report 7 May 2008 21:34

No never found any deaths in either name, he will be dead im sure unless hes nearly 100!?

ahh that explains why i cant find them..
i do know Harry Kausmans dads name was Willam, and was deceased at the time of the wedding to Joan..

WayneTracey

WayneTracey Report 7 May 2008 21:24

OK Lisa,

I cannot find any children of that marriage....

Doesn't mean there wasn't any, but if there were i cannot find them !!

Onto the deaths!

Any idea of when they died??

Lisa

Your using FreeBMD??

These record have not been transcribed yet, i am trawling thru the actual untranscribed BMD on Find My Past, page by page manually searching for your Grandfather's children.... your Aunts and Uncles?

Just to show you how bad i am at this, when i tried to locate Joe White Welborn (joans father) i thought he had changed his name as i found a Joe While Welbourn same birth year, same district...etc..so on sunday dragged the whole family to find this house on a large estate called Newstead Priory..took photos, got quite emotional and then realised my mistake 2 days later!

what a wally!

Lisa

Lisa Report 7 May 2008 21:13

Thanks Sylvia and Tracey, i will go and delete them now! Had no idea how this worked, now it all makes sense...thanks for the advice!

I must be doing something wrong, i tried to look up the wedding in 1932, but it shows no results..

i used the refined search, is that the correct one?

I just typed in his name, marriage date and spouses name..but not there??

Good job you guys are experts!

WayneTracey

WayneTracey Report 7 May 2008 21:13

To e fair i had given up on mine...til i ordered by Grandfather Birt cert from the Scottish Records office.... in a heartbeat i had gone from 1921 Scotland to 1780 Ireland.... and stopped dead... no birth location, just a Country.... Grrrr

So onwards and upwards on someone elses brick wall....

Tracey (thinking of changing my name to bob the builder!!)

Lisa,

It happens, you're not the only one. It's largely because GR doesn't give any advice on how to use the boards effectively .................. don't worry about it, just remember for the future lol!! (I'm joking, just in case you didn't pick up on that!!!).

If you do do it in the future ........ it helps if you add a note saying "this also posted on xxxxx board", but in fact we helpers all go onto all the other boards so you aren't really finding "different" helpers on different boards.

regarding name changes.

It does happen quite often ........... you'll find ancestors who switch the order around (as yours did), who use one name then the other in varying records or on censuses, who decide to become Henry instead of Harry, etc etc

I swear they did it to make our life more interesting!!

You do develop a "feel" that this is my guy, even though the name is wrong. The problem then is proving it!!

welcome to one of the most frustrating, enjoyable hobbies around!!

Lisa, the only way you'll know is to order the additional marriage cert and then go from there.... i've not looked for children of that marriage as i was going to walk away...

But you are a newbie and i love finding new data... as this is the thread with the most data you might do as well to delete the other thread and paste anything here other people have found for you.... remembering to credit them also..

Ok firstly thanks a lot for the help..had no idea i would get such a great response,

secondly i have never used these chat boards before and am sorry if i have upset anyone, i wasn't sure how they worked, just had the idea to post on the first one then saw a board suggested to me that was more suitable, so thought i would post there!
Didn't realise it would cause any probs, i understand now, sorry and thankyou!

Angela, i am really truly grateful...my head hurts from trying to figure this out!!! and some fresh input is very welcome!

Shall i delete any threads?

I did notice the name change from GH to HG was this common in the old days? how do i know its him?

Crikey a 3rd wedding! what a guy!!! the plot thickens... im gonna be on here till silly o' clock again i can feel it!!

Am awating Sheilas Birth Certificate, and his marriage to Margaret...due any day now...

I did wonder wether that Hyman Harry Kausman, London yob. 1910 may have been him...as he changed his name once, why not before!! ???

Sorry again, for doing all this wrong..

and big thankyou to you all

Lisa, we all want to help but it makes it easier for us if you only post to one board, that way there is no duplicate work been done.
Just a little bit of advice for someone who is new and to let you know that we do want to help you and your dad.
