Any update on Minnie being the mother of JJ and Frances? Can we link the Jane Weston to Elizabeth & Minnie?

I've been trying all day to find the link between Elizabeth Meredith and Jane Weston. I have a strong hunch that Jane is the paternal grandmother. The reason I say this is because JJ and Frances were'nt registered Merediths or Westons, so registered under their mother's surname (whatever THAT was!).

Their father was probably Jane's son.

Elizabeth married Minnie's father (probably in Ireland shortly before Minnie was born). I don't think we stand a chance of finding out Elizabeth's maiden name but again, I have a hunch she's Jane's sister.

If that's the case then Manaretta, JJ and Frances are second cousins and not half siblings.

I think that we'd have a much better chance tracing Jane Weston. There's really only one Jane in earlier census records in Lancs that could be her.

I'm just off to find her details.

Well, that blew out the window. I was able to trace all the Jane Weston's in Liverpool and none of them are her. So, she must have been under a different surname in 1881 and before.

I'm not sure about the following death ref. There were two, one in Godstone 1894 and another in Epsom in 1895. I was able to discount the one in Epsom because that Jane appears on the 1891 census.

As I said, the Godstone one's a bit iffy too because there was two other Jane's around the same age.

So all, were do we go now, do we go to parish records & seach for every jeffrey joseph? chertsey not far, all 3 of us could go wen they bk of hols.

I must admit I'm out of ideas with this one. As we can't find a birth it's possible he wasn't christened Jeffrey Joseph & that's assuming that he was christened.

Has anyone tried the full index for his birth?

When you look for a birth (I use Ancestry) the ones that have been indexed pop up. Sometimes one is missed so you need to search through the full index 1/4 by 1/4. I'll have a look for you now but may be a while as I'm also in the kitchen being domestic.

I've checked 1881-1887 but no Jeffery

Now, I don't believe this is Jane Weston/Falconer, but I'm sure she's connected to them somehow. Possibly a sister-in-law?

I can see another possible connection with Mana Aldridge as her husband was a solicitor too. Could the Aldridge's and Falconer's have been in practice together?
