hi, i just wanted to say that i have read some of these comments and found them very helpful.

i am very new at this (started only 1 week ago!!) and asked if anyone could help me. i was very very shocked at how quick i got a reply! i didnt really know what information i needed to give as i only had little information myself! i have now ordered the marriage cert with help from the kind people who helped which i will hopefully receive soon.

i have tried to find the post that i added but can't find it now - is there an easy way of finding it without going through the hundreds that are on here?

not a problem if not, its just that when i get the marriage cert i wanted to thank the people who helped again and let them know what i found.

thanks

Julie

Can I jump in on this? I would just like to say that I have used these TTF boards quite a lot over the past couple of weeks, and have had the pleasure of conversing with many of you that have posted on this thread.

I want to say thank you to each and everyone of you who does this. I personally appreciate the help you have all given me - I have come such a long way in such a short time - in some parts of my family, 7 generations. I could not have done this without you guys so thank you all very much.

I am learning how to use the site as I go along, and try to use the other sites as well - and many of you have helped a lot with teaching me how to use them.

Thank you all (and I do hope my spelling is ok in my messages!!)

I do so agree with what people are posting on here!

I last posted 3 days ago before we went away .......... and see that several of the messages I posted then have either not been looked at or ignored!

Shelly ............ don't worry about your spelling. As long as you split your message into paragraphs, it is perfectly clear what you are saying.

It does help to make sure that you are spelling any names correctly, and that you have the right name with the right person.

I've spent ages on more than one occasion looking for information and posting it on a thread, only to be later told that was the married name and they really wanted information on the name before marriage, or vice versa!

I also avoid text speak ............. I don't have a cell phone, never use that type of abbreviations, and so text speak makes no sense to me at all. It's just gobbleydook as far as I'm concerned!

Hi Lindylu

You're welcome.

Oh and another one is to click on there name like you were to PM them and see there name, as you can now change your board and the PM bit stays the same

I have membership to Ancestry and GR, and do still ask for help, because don't know all the little tricks with misspelt names, but I always come back and say thankyou, sometimes it is a little late, due to times difference and shift work.

But I appreciate all the help I get from GR members, one member here found my aunts half sisters, they have written, they have met, and they too are truly gratefull.

Regards

Amber

Have just caught this thread and agree with most of the comments. I will not even try to read posts that are just one sentence or text speak.

One point, how do you know if someone has read a reply or been on line??

Dear Shelley,

I happened to come back to this thread to read the latest news and I'd just like to say I admire you.

My boyfriend has lots of problems with spelling and grammar (an undeclared dyslexic - never recognised as such in his youth) and I know how daunting it can be for him to put "pen to paper". I think you are fantastic not to let spelling and grammar get in the way of your search!

I wish you every success in your family hunting and if there's ever a search I can help you with, feel free to ask.

I couldn't resist placing this message as it's a subject matter close to my heart and I know no-one would intentionally mean to offend you. As Potty stated - your message was clear.

Best regards,
Rebecca

I agree with most of the comments made above.

1. Please have the courtesy to reply and say the information is correct or a thank you would be sufficient if your fingers are aching too much to type anything else.
2. I have noticed that a lot of the people try and help and appear to have the same problems as me NO FEEDBACK.... sorry to shout.
3. Keep up the good work everyone.
4. I have also now started to delete any replies I have made to threads placed as I am getting overloaded with unnecessary threads.
5. Please check your threads regularly for updates

Regards to all and happy hunting
