Miriam Report 21 Sep 2008 19:47

Thanks to the help of so many wonderful and knowledgeable people on this site I have made such progress with my family tree as I would never have thought possible when I began it.

I’m delighted now to try and repay the favour by offering lookups for the following Hampshire parishes.

Before asking for lookups please can I point out the following: -

1. The records are handwritten transcripts of Hampshire Bishops Transcripts and are NOT indexed. This means they have to be MANUALLY SEARCHED. So no blanket searches please – it would take forever!
2. Please check the dates where included – I don’t have access to records outside these dates.
3. Please be patient – I will be as quick as I can but this is a first time offer for me and weekends and evenings will be the times when I can do the most searching.

Best of luck to all, Mariaxxx

Miriam

Hope you havn't given up yet...as I do have a couple of look ups if your still offering.

First is a marriage of Thomas Maslin and Ann. They had their first child baptised in Ovington 1816, so may have been married there, though it might just be outside the dates covered by your disc.

Second is my 5x great grandmother. On the 1861 census gives her birthplace as Hinton Ampner, she'd be born around 1798-1802, name Harriot/Harriet Hall, so a baptism for her or any info on her family would be great. Unfortunately she also gives the neighbouring parish Bramdean as birthplace on 1851 census..so it might be a matter of luck again finding her.

Any help you can give on those very much appreciated.

Regards

Richard

Hi thought i would give you the details incase you can help:-

Could you please look for the marriage of John Bevis born 1782 i believe in Monxton Hampshire. He married Mary Paddock born c1781 in Hampshire.I know they had a son George Bevis c1807 again in Monxton but could you look to see if there are any other siblings please.

Thanks.

Michelle

Richard

Possible for marriage?

MASLAN Thomas of Abbotts Ann, blacksmith, 20 bachelor with consent of his father Robert of Stanton St Bernard, Wilts, bricklayer and Mary Hawkins of AA at Abbotts Ann 7th April 1814.

May be she was Mary Ann?

Might be worth filing in the "could be" pile.

No luck yet on Harriet Hall - not in Ovington - no records for Bramdean - leave it with me and I will have a look while rooting around for my lot.

Michelle

Sorry Monxton not on disks - I also looked on the Hampshire Allegations for marriages but not there either. Will keep it with my lot and see what I can find as I go along.

Best wishes

Maria

Hello Miriam
Thanks for offering to do these lookups. That is very kind of you.

I am looking for the baptism of John Edey in Christchurch 1783 or near to that year.

The surname has sometimes been wrongly spelt as Eady, Edy, Eadie.

Thankyou in advance.

Regards Paul

Miriam has agreed to me "joining in" between us we may prove quite a team!!

Richard

The only Thomas MASLIN marriage I found is the same one that Miriam has.

There are 2 Harriet HALL baptisms in the Hampshire Baptism Index :-

18 Nov 1798 at Barton Stacey
Harriet HALL d John & Mary ..travellers

13 Jan 1802 at Alton
Harriet HALL d Richard & Jane

(there is one other baptism for the travellers)
18 Sep 1796 at Bentworth
Charlotte d John & Mary..vagrents

Do you think either of these is yours?

Michelle

Marriage 10 April 1806 at Weyhill
John BEVIS
Mary PADDOCK

Baptism 24 May 1807-George s John & Mary

I cannot find any more children or buriels for John or Mary on the Buriel Index (or re marriage for either of them)

Baptisms
05 May 1782 at Monxton
John BEAVIS s John & Catherine
06 Dec 1778 at Weyhill
Mary PADDOCK d John & Elizabeth

Bevis/Beavis/Bavis/Beaves the one I like best is BEAUVIOS
very French!

Thanks so much for the marriage and baptism records.Really good of you.
They look spot on to me.I have George as born the same time so marriage of 1806 makes sence.
Yes i have Beavis and Bevis and no doubt futher back there will be lots of different versions!
