Hi Margaret, thanks for your very kind offer.

I have lots of Oxfordshire rellies, but will just ask for lookups for the most interesting ones. Do baptism records usually give parents' & godparents' names?

The ones I would like are:

Baptism of Sarah Ellen Wiggins, b. 03 Feb 1879 in Long Han(d)borough to Louisa Wiggins - father unknown but possibly John Jarrett b. Hanboro 1857.
(the Wiggins family may have been Wesleyan Methodists, but not 100% sure).

Baptism of Hilda Grace Jarrett b. 29 Jun 1896 in Brook Hill Woodstock to Sarah Ellen Jarrett (she was Sarah Wiggins took John Jarrett's surname after he and her mother Louisa married). Sarah Ellen was also unmarried when she had Hilda.

Thank you so much.

Best wishes

Sue

Hi Margret,
Thanks for finding Diana Sims for me. If it's possible with your CD could you see if there were any other children born to Richard and Mary in Witney. Also could you look for a marriage for Richard and Mary. At some stage before 1783 the family moved to Wantage and a further 7 children were born there to Richard and Mary. It may of course be a 2nd Mary the 1st may have died. I know it is the same family as Diana born Hailey Witney had her brother Joseph Sims born Wantage living with her in 1851 and 1861.

SARAH PASCALL
Hannah Acres missed being baptised in Shipton Under Wychwood or Leafield. there are children being baptised at that time by Thomas Akers so she may belong to him,
Hannah Acres had two husbands and one illegitimate child

She married Willliam Pratley 18/9/1817 Shipton U Wychwood he born 1788 son of John Pratley 1754 and Mary Wyer 1753.

She married William Eeles Ferryman 1/1/1831 Shipton U Wychwood he the son of William Eeles and Mary Ferryman.
Cannot give details of either as not researched them.

Hannah Acres as Hannah Pratley had a daughter Tabitha Pratley baptised 27/12/1829 she was the illegitiamate daughter of a widow.

These people are on my own tree, so if you want more information you should email me direct with your email address for a genealogical report.
Will now continue researching your other requests. Back later.

LIZ REES
Sorry the disc only goes up to 1860 so no chance of looking for Sarah Ellen Wiggins b 1879 Long Hanborough.
There is a baptism in the Wesleyan Chapel in the Witney reg district for
Louisa born 22/1/1864 bapt 3/4/1864 daughter of Henry and Ann Wiggins of Crawley Lane , Hailey, Witney, this may not be the Louisa who had Sarah Ellen but I thought I would put it in.
Plenty of Wiggins in the Wesleyan Chapel baptisms.

Hilda Grace Jarrett daughter of Sarah Ellen single woman baptised 25/8/1896 Woodstock.

Only half an answer sorry.

Hi Margaret,

Thanks so much for the info about the Wiggins family, and for Sarah Grace's baptism date.

What you found about the Wiggins baptisms seems to confirm my theory about their being Wesleyans - so that is also a great help.

Best wishes

Hello Margaret

Thank you for doing the Lawrence Prince baptism search and giving me his occupation from the baptism info on son John. A shame you were unable to find Lawrence's baptism.

He married Elizabeth Smart 19th Dec 1762in Marcham, Berkshire according to the IGI so maybe his baptism might come under Berkshire instead of Oxfordshire somewhere.

Oh well. The search continues !

Best wishes
Paul

Thanks Margaret, I don't have these people on a tree on here, but I am building it on Ancestry (it's for a friend), if you are on Ancestry I expect our records will match up when I add this!

As a follow up:

You found me a marriage for Philip Coombes as a widower, and looking at my tree it was a child with his first wife I am following. I know you did a search for a baptism for Elizabeth Humphries for me, but I wonder if there is anything on their marriage in case it leads to her parents? I think they may have married in Chipping Norton.

Thanks

Margaret
