CeeDee
Mary Gibbs buried Tackley aged 56 years 1/1/1862
John Gibbs buried Tackley aged 89 years 15/10/1891
Theree is marriage for John Gibbs 16/4/1855 in Tackley between
John Gibbs and Elizabeth Cook witnesses Isaac Whiting,Ann Hoare Banns called 1'8'15th April. So I wonder if you have the correct information, I have looked for a marriage in Tackley for John Gibbs to a Mary Bull, which I found

19/11/1827 Tackley
John Gibbs and Mary (given as Mary Bull in Banns register) witnesses Joseph Morris,Jane Gibbs, Banns called 4'11'18th November

So I looked in the Banns register to find this entry

Banns say John Gibbs and Mary Bull bans called 4,11,18th November with the following additional sentence. Marriage recorded in Marriage register between John Gibbs and Mary Ryman 19/11/1827
So perhaps Mary was both Ryman and Bull, either. Widow or used both surnames.

Hi Margaret ,
I just wondered if you might be able to help me to find where Mary and John Gibbs were buried. I would presume it may be near the church they were married but I could be wrong.

Mary nee Bull Gibbs b 1807 Woodstock Tackley died before 1871 census

John Gibbs b 1802 at Tackley died aged 89 before the 1891 census.

They were married in 1855 in St. Nicholas church Tackley Oxfordshire.
Many Thanks,
Carol.

Dear Margaret, I am trying to find the baptism record for Alice Wall. According to the 1841 census she was born in Stoke Lyne in 1776. I can't find her on the IGI so I would be grateful with any help on this

Hello Margaret

Hoping you catch up with this eventually , and that all goes well with your travels :-)

I am currently "doing" my DIL tree-they were travellers :-(and it is a challenge.

There are several appearing in Hampshire/Wiltshire/Dorset in the 1800s who are "of Noke Oxfordshire" and I would appreciate a look-up of any Bland's or Jeff's
in the P/Rs particularly baptisms.

DONNA, yes Thomas and Rachel named 3 sons, Thomas.
It was quite common to re use a christian name if the first child died, or sometimes if the first son was born out of wedlock they would name a first born son in wedlock the same familial name..So Thomas Jones,... illegitimate, Thomas Williams legitimate. same parents...

Hello Margaret,

Thank you for getting back to me, Joseph is proving to be a problem, I do know he married Maria Manners in Snitterfield & his witnesses were William Such & Mary Such (from Ancestry) I have found a William Such born abt 1811 Epwell with wife Jane on 1841 census living Snitterfield, so am presuming William & Mary were Josephs siblings. Have also found an Emila Such born Banbury 1841 OND so is probably the the baptism you have found, I have tried to find an Ann Such in 1841 but none positive. There is an Ann Such married Banbury 1843 which could be her (two choices here James Bevington & William Harriss) but have looked for them in 1851 with no luck as you say it may be an idea to get this marriage certificate. I'm on a mission now!!

Regards & Thankyou

Jean

Margaret Report 21 May 2012 09:05

Hallo All, been away on holiday, absolutely no luck with the Such research looked all through the Banbury Registration district parishes
But there are the baptisms for
Harriet Smolley Such 5/3/1837 Kineton Warks
George Such 2/6/1839 Snetterfield Warks
Mary 10/10/1841 Snetterfield
John 3/8/1843 Snetterfield
Thomas 12/4/1846 Snetterfield
found on the new Latter Days Saints site.
Had a look on Ancestry Public Member trees, your chap Joseph Such seems to have no parents on them either..
There is an illegitimate child... Emily Baptised Epwell 30/10/1841 daughter of Ann Such a spinster, perhaps if you could find a marriage for her in the Banbury Registration District the certificate might give her father's name and occupation and perhaps a push to find Joseph Such, if he is her brother????? Sorry not much help
