Brummiejan, spent a good bit of time looking for the baptism of your Thomas Hanks, but no joy. Lots similar
4/5/1795 Thomas Hanks son of Jeremiah and Elizabeth in Kirtlington..
9/6/1791 Thomas Hanks son of Joseph and Mary...Islip

Anyway here is what is certain.
Thomas Hanks married Mary Taylor in Wendlebury 6/4/1836
Thomas Hanks was buried in Islip 4/5/1878 aged 74 yrs of Middle Street Islip
Mary Hanks was buried in Islip 2/6/1867 aged 60 yrs of Islip.

Thomas Hanks and Mary nee Taylor had the following children baptised
5/6/1836 Elizabeth in Wendlebury
13/8/1837 John in Islip
2/8/1840 William in Islip.

Here is rundown of the Islip Hanks....

John Hanks baptised 27/9/1697 born 23/9/1697 son of Thomas and Martha Hanks
married in Oxford St Mary Magdalene 26/9/1730
Elizabeth Peesley who had been baptised 3/12/1706 in Hampton Poyle,

They had
John Hanks baptised Islip 24/11/1730
Jeremiah bapt Islip 21/9/1742
Thomas bapt 1/12/1731....
I think from one of these three children your Thomas Hanks 1804 may have been descended.... I cannot find the connection, perhaps you will have better luck, or someone else will....

Hi Margaret,
My father was Stewart Eric Davis 3/6/1919 and his mother was Thirza Emily Eleanor Wharton 25/7/1895. Her parents were Thomas James Wharton and Lily Bessie Maria Lathan. I can't find a birth certificate for Lily (the only two people I can find are in Durham so how do I know which one is right if either?). My dad was brought up by his father and Stepmother Clarice (don't know her maiden name) and it doesn't appear that Thirza married my grandfather Davis as the only record I can find for her marriage is to Thomas L Howett in 1928. Sorry it's a bit long winded but I have only just started and as I am the oldest living person in the family left it's quite hard.

Hi Margaret.

Thank you for your very generous offer.
I wonder if there is anything you might be able to find for the following couple please?

Thomas Hanks born Merton c1805
His wife Mary born Wendlebury c1809

Also if possible the death of their son William Hanks Bicester 1905.

Thanks a million.

Hallo Elizabeth
sorry no baptism for a William Scott in Woodstock.
There is a marriage for a Robert Scott in Fritwell to Sarah Elkerton 11/12/1820
They have a son William about 1834, but not hopeful that he is the one you are looking for.

Charles Clack married in Witney Martha Trinder 19/11/1804, he was a sojourner. Witnesses John Mobins, John Ellis.
No baptism in Witney for Martha Trinder.
No need to tell you a sojourner was a temporary visitor to the parish, but others reading this may not know.
