SUSAN,
There is not a baptism in St Frideswide, where Fanny Norris said she was living when applying for a bastardy order, nor in Holy Well(St Cross) where she was a servant in 1891. Sorry too many Oxford City parishes to search for the baptism.

Sarah Elizabeth Lambourn born 16/9/1858 baptised 7/11/1858 Eynsham
daughter of William and Ann
who had married in Eynsham
4/9/1848 William Lambourne a minor bachleor labourer son of Thomas a labourer
Ann Rudge a minor spinster servant of Cumnor daughter of Joseph a labourer
witnessess John Moss, Mary Rudge, W. Green

As for the marriage to Shadrack Page, I cannot find one.

Apparently he married Jane Lambourne in 1901.

On the 1911 census there he is with Jane and someone says that they have been married for 15yrs with one child born and one alive. She was born in Eynsham..

Yet on the 1891 census
Shadrack married aged 29 yrs born Didcot
Henry 12 yrs born Witney
Shadrack 10 yrs born Cottage Park
Frederick 7 yrs born Notting Hill.

1881 census
Shadrack 19yrs
Elizabeth 20 yrs born Dudley Port Staffordshire... not Eynsham
Harry 3 years born Eynsham I cannot find his baptism in Eynsham.

Looked for a marriage in Dudley Port Staffs for a Shadrack Page to an Elizabeth but cannot find one.

The child John Page mentioned on the 1911 census here is his GRO birth reference number
3rd quarter 1897 West Ham Essex Volume 4a page 179

Sorry not to be much help.

Thank you very much for all that information. Much appreciated.
Is there any information you can find out about Ethel Hunt?
Ethel is my grandfather's mother.
I can't seem to find much about her. Was just wondering if you could help.

NATASHA
This is the best I can do.
Henry Hunt a bachelor of 21 yrs married 25/12/1896 in Faringdon.
Elizabeth Smith 20 yrs a spinster
witnesses James Beckett, Ann Archer.
no fathers on register for either of them, all other marriages have father's names. So perhaps both illegitimate.

1881 census
Sarah Hunt unmarried aged 26 yrs a Drover's daughter born Faringdon
Henry Hunt aged 8 yrs born Faringdon

1891 census
Sarah Hunt widow aged 34 yrs born Faringdon
Harry Hunt aged 17 yrs born Faringdon
Emily Hunt aged 3 yrs born Faringdon
Rosa Hunt aged 1 yr born Faringdon.

There is a marriage in Faringdon
18/3/1906 James Carter 33 yrs bachelor son of Thomas a labourer
Sarah Hunt 58 yrs spinster daughter of Charles
witnesses H. Hunt.. and Ann Neale.

1911 census
Henry Hunt is married to Elizabeth with
Henry 13yrs
Charles 12 yrs
Ellen 10 yrs
Ethel 6 yrs

I have tried to find a baptism for Henry Hunt which fits in with all the ages given by him, but can only find

1/2/1871 Faringdon Workhouse male illegitimate child son of Sarah Hunt

25/6/1878 a Bastardy Order
John Heath of Faringdon a labourer
Sarah Hunt of Little Coxwell singlewoman male bastard child delivered 22/3/1878 and baptised St Mary Little Coxwell 17/5/1878 as Heber John Hunt. son of Sarah Priscilla Hunt.

I will look for a Charles Hunt in Faringdon .

1901 census
Charles Hunt and wife Ann with daughter Sarah Hunt aged 12 years born in
Faringdon

Charles Hunt married Ann Pill.

Charles Hunt died 16/2/1907 aged 76 yrs he had an Elm Coffin with black furniture, it cost £1/15s/0d.
from the Undertakers Burial Book Faringdon.

1851 census Thomas Hunt aged 73 yrs born Faringdon
wife Mary 68 yrs born Buckland
James 35 yrs born Faringdon
Charles 20 yrs ditto
Sarah daughter of Thomas wife of Henry as below 24 yrs
Henry son in law 24 yrs
James grandson 5 mos.

I think this is your family, but you would need to buy the GRO certificate of birth for Rose Hunt Vol 2c page 282 1889 2nd quarter, as this is the only certificate I can find that ties up with Harry/Henry and Emily all living with Sarah Hunt, either a widow or an unmarried mother telling porkies....
Sorry not to be very definite

DEBORAH
You asked privately about Thomas Thomas born c 1838 from the 1881 census where Thomas Thomas was living with his wife Ann born c 1839 in St Peter le Bailey Oxford City.

On the 1871 census there is an Agnes Maltby aged 21 yrs born in Oxford a sister in law living with Thomas and his wife Ann in St Thomas Oxford.

On the 1861 census Ann the wife of Thomas states she was born in Cassington., and they have a son Thomas Thomas aged 1 year born in Oxford.

Thomas Thomas was baptised 14/10/1838 in St Thomas Oxford son of George and Martha Thomas.

George Thomas aged 21 yrs of this parish but baptised in Witham ( Wytham Berkshire.. from the 1861 census)
married
Martha Keen aged 19 yrs of this parish and baptised in it
witnesses Richard Keen, and James Maltby, (perhaps a relative of the Agnes Maltby living with Thomas Thomas and Ann on the 1871 census.)
Hope this helps.

Hi Margaret,

I was wondering if you could help me in any way.
My GG-Grandfather is Henry Hunt. I believe he was born abt 1872 in Faringdon. I haven't got much information on him or his family.
The only information I have got is that I believe he married Elizabeth Smith but not too sure when and also they had 4 children. Ethel, Henry, Charles and Ellen.

Would be great if you could help out in anyway.

Hope to hear from you soon.
