Hi Susan - yes I realise about the census.

My Ancestry sub has recently come to an end, but I will subscribe again.

I have search on a Canadian data base for Thomas Senior who married Annie Lamb as he was in the army over there. I did come up with something which could of been him, but couldn't work out how to buy the info I needed as there was possibly alot of info. I emailed the place in Canada, but I didn't understand what they were asking me do??? drrr
Since then, I've bought a new laptop and and now can't find the website???

Anything you can find, would be great.

Thanks Susan

Hi Sue - really appreciate your help - thank you.

Information is sparse and some of what my father in law has told me, is clearly wrong, but mother in law has said that John Stanley Scott b 1914 was definately born in a shanty town in Canada called Crudemine/Crewmine?? - father in law has said that all John's siblings were born there, but clearly he got that wrong!!

I know that John Stanley lived in Reading, Berkshire for a while when my father in law James Bruce Scott was a boy, also he lived in Nottingham, Glasgow, Liverpool and Lincoln as well as Canada.

John Stanley was also in the RAF - I have emailed to try and get records, but have had no response.

I also know that Thomas Senior was in the Army in Canada.

I did have contact from someone in Canada through GR who tried to help me sometime ago, but she couldn't find anything on Crudemine, but I just keep thinking that there must be a record of it somewhere with having a date of 1914??

Anyway Sue, anything you can find would be great - I'm also visiting Reading Family History Centre tomorrow, I will see what I can find out there.

Thanks again

Jo

Also Sue, you mentioned earlier that someone in Canada, was claiming that Ann Molyneux (wife of Thomas b 1844) was his g grandmother - which website did you go on to gain this info.

Thanks

Hi Susan, just a quickie as I'm just off on a course, but will be back later.

This is my problem, my father in law has no idea if any are alive, I think because he moved around alot as a child, they lost touch.

Bit more info,

I have found John Stanley Scott on a Canadian Passenger list on Ancestry, but the image is unviewable, will there be any other images of this elsewhere that will be clearer to see??

Thanks

Jo

on the above post of marriages 1864 you may notice that there is an uqual number of males and females (excluding the presumed misspelling of Molyneux). Also the enries on one page should be for the same registration district. On looking at the original image from which this was typed ( a very bad handwritten image) it looks more like a Thomas Scott married in W. Bromwich vol 6b p 973. On looking at the page for W Brom 6b 973 there is a male missing seming to indicate that this is where this Thomas should be listed.

using the 1891 census that Susan gave you if this is correct (see posts page 2) which states Thomas b 1879 in Liverpool with parents Thomas and Ann living in Toxteth Park, this is more likely to be the marriage for the parents

I appreciate I’m joining this thread some years on, but I’m wondering if any further progress was made with this family…?

Thomas Scott and Annie Lamb were my Great Grandparents. My Grandfather, David William Scott, was born to them in Copper Cliff, Sudbury District, Ontario Canada on 19/11/1911. His Canadian birth records show that Thomas and Annie were married in Liverpool on 22/11/1905. This ties in with the marriage in Edge Hill, Liverpool, noted previously in the thread. I have a copy of that marriage certificate – it shows the father of Thomas as JOHN L Scott (deceased by the time of the marriage). The marriage was witnessed by James Scott (possibly a brother of Thomas?). At the time of their marriage Thomas was 25 and Annie was 19, making them born around 1880 and 1886 respectively.

It is believed that my Grandfather (David William Scott) spent the first 10 years or so of his life in Canada and attended school there. The family returned to Liverpool sometime around 1920 (estimate only) following the death of one of my Grandfather’s siblings (thought to be a sister). By that time my Great Grandmother Annie had had enough of life in Canada.

David William Scott married Annie Todd in Liverpool in 1934. Their marriage cert shows J.S.Scott as a witness – could this be John Stanley Scott, the original source of this thread (and possibly a brother to David William)?

The records I have found for possible children of Thomas Scott and Annie lamb, in addition to David William, are:
Thomas B.22/8/1906 in East Zorra, Oxford, Ontario
James B.13/6/1906 in Woodstock, Oxford, Ontario
Ruth B.29/6/1913 in Copper Cliff, Sudbury District, Ontario (stillborn)
George B.April 1916 in Frood Mine, Sudbury District, Ontario (died 17/5/1916)

Other Info: I have a record of David William Scott living at May Street, Liverpool, as of 1949 (scholar’s leaving card of my father Derek William Scott) which would also seem to relate to the reference made previously in the thread to John Stanley Scott living at May Place.

I would really love to discover more about my Grandfather’s family – hoping somebody might have more information. Thank you.

Hi Jeanette, as you rightly say this thread is an old one. You could click on Joanne's name to send a direct message as she may not be checking back for any further replies.

Meanwhile, there may be more records online since this thread so will take a look .....

Thanks Ann. As far as I know, the family had no previous connections to Canada before Thomas and Annie moved there around 1906, but I will look in to it.
