Hi Ann and Susan

I'm so sorry if I've been confusing - since susan put the census info up, I've totally confused myself over the two Thomas' and if I'm reading correctly now, both had wife Annie and Ann?? This is so much worst than when I've been doing my side of the family!

Ann - I bet you thought I was a right dinlow - sorry.

Susan - is there any other info you can give me, I would really appreciate it - will have to start my ancestry sub again I think.

Many thanks to you both.

Jo

if these are the 6 children of Thomas b1844 & Annie
Thomas b 1879
James b 1864
Isabella b ??
Ethel b ??
William b ??
John b 1914
Thomas (& presumably Annie) would have been about 70 years old when John was born in 1914!

Hi Ann

I obviously put incorrect info on first, then Susan came up with info, which confused me.

There are two Thomas' as follows:

Thomas b 1844 married to Annie Lamb, they had six children:

Thomas b 1879
James b 1864
Isabella b ??
Ethel b ??
William b ??
John b 1914 married Sarah Coates and had three children:
James b 1936
Jennifer b 1951
Vincent b 1955

Please don't give up on me, am I making sense yet :o)

lancashireAnn Report 29 Sep 2008 23:35

so who did Thomas 1879 marry?

Joanne

Joanne Report 29 Sep 2008 23:34

Hi Ann

My father in law obviously gave me wrong dates, then when I saw what Susuan had written, I got alittle confused.

It was definately Thomas Scott senior b 1844 that married Annie Lamb, not Thomas Scott b 1879.

Sorry to confuse you Ann.

Thanks
Jo

lancashireAnn Report 29 Sep 2008 23:33

sorry it still does not make sense
you say_
Ethel b ?? (supposedly Canada)
Isabella b ?? ( " " )
James b 1864 ( " ")
Thomas b 1879 ( " " )
William b ?? ( " " )
Siblings to the above John Stanley Scott.

but Thomas 1879 is John's father not brother & James is too old to be his brother

perhaps it would help you to draw a simple tree for yourself and then it might more sense to you

lancashireAnn

lancashireAnn Report 29 Sep 2008 23:28

still not sure who married Annie Lamb
your 2nd post-
'All I know is that Thomas b 1879 was married to Annie Lamb in Liverpool?? and moved to Canada'

Joanne

Joanne Report 29 Sep 2008 23:25

Hi Ann

Sorry, I obviously got abit wrong, I was getting confused with what Susan was writing - there are definately two Thomas'

I have James Bruce Scott b 1936 in Liverpool
Jennifer Scott b 1951 in Liverpool (half sis to above James)
Vincent Scott b 1955 in Liverpool (half bro to above James)
John Stanley Scott b 1914 (supposedly in Canada) (father to the above 3) married to Sarah Coates who died, them Edna Edith Lineman.

Ethel b ?? (supposedly Canada)
Isabella b ?? ( " " )
James b 1864 ( " ")
Thomas b 1879 ( " " )
William b ?? ( " " )
Siblings to the above John Stanley Scott.

Thomas Scott b 1844 married to Annie Lamb - parents to the above six children.

Am I making sense??

Thanks

I'll try to summarise what I understand from your posts:
John Scott b 1914 in Canada - no siblings dob's given
John' father Thomas b 1879 in Liverpool married Annie Lamb
(also 'my father in law says his dad John Stanley Scott who was married to Annie Lamb' which seems to indicate John married Annie Lamb)
John's great grandfather Thomas b 1844 married to Ann (from 1891 census) NOT Annie Lamb

Hi Ann

I'm getting confused myself having two Thomas'

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe they married after children?? Thomas Scott senior married Annie Lamb and looking at the info Susan gave on the census, he was born about 1844. It does seem strange though, to have same marriage names, same place??

Please tell me if I've got something wrong or that I'm reading the info Susan gave incorrectly??

Thanks

Jo

I'm confused now - why was 1905 too late for the marriage?

Joanne

Joanne Report 29 Sep 2008 21:34

Hi Susan - sorry I haven't been back, emergency with one of my little ones.

Ok, ignore my earlier note, was getting confused between the two Thomas' - so Thomas senior wasn't born 1879, it was the son Thomas, my apologies if I mislead you in any way, my father in law's memory isn't brilliant these days. Can you find any of the other siblings that I mentioned on census.

Also, Isabel Scott born Liverpool??? My father in law is convinced all siblings were born in Canada - maybe he's wrong, I suppose there is a good possiblity!!

Lancashire ann - thank you for replying, yes Thomas senior Scott did marry Annie Lamb, but that can't be the one as the dates too late - thank you.

Susan - thanks so much for your help - your info looks promising - I have to pick my children up in half hour, so will study it in more depth when I'm back at about 3.30pm.

How bizarre that someone from Canada says its his g grandmother!

Your 13.56 note - not sure if your correct on this, not sure if your confusing the two Thomas':

I have Thomas b ?? mum and dad, Thomas b 1879, Annie Lamb b ??

Am I making sense??

Just going now so will be back in a bit.

Thanks

Hi Susan - I have posted before about this family, but didn't have any luck, thought I'd try again.

My father in law had a stroke some years ago and its now hard for him to remember things, so info is sparse.

All I know is that Thomas b 1879 was married to Annie Lamb in Liverpool?? and moved to Canada, the shanty was called Crudemine, it could be spelt differently. There they had their children, as listed above and they moved back to Liverpool around 1920/23 ish, my father in law says his dad John Stanley Scott who was married to Annie Lamb, was about 7yrs old when they moved back, he was born 1914.

Thomas b 1879 remarried in 1948 to Edna Edith Lineman.

I know son Thomas had a barber shop in Liverpool.

My father in law lived at May Place, Liverpool when he was a boy.

Any help would be appreciated.

Joanne

Joanne Report 29 Sep 2008 00:35

I'm not getting very far with this, so any help would be appreciated. My husbands grandfather was John Stanley Scott b 1914, in a shanty town in Canada, along with siblings, Ethel, Isabella, James, Thomas, William, the shanty town is unheard of, they moved back to Liverpool around 1920 which is where their father Thomas came from. If anyone can relate to this, please let me know.

Thanks

Jo
