Not your man

As you will see this is an old post. I have now received a tip that Charles was in the US Civil War (1861-1865). I have just had a look at Ancestry index and there is a Chares Race on the 1870 census at Ionia, Michigan and a few other Charles Race also on later census. Would someone please check for me to see what they say. Thank you.

Hello I am trying to find out what happened to the above. He was born Hutton Rudby (Stokesley area) 1845/46 and on the 1861 census he was an apprentice chemist/druggist at Market Place, Bedale aged 16. His father was called Byers and I have loads of info on him including his will from 1890s where Charles isn't mentioned. Mother Augusta died round about 1949. I can find no trace of him after 1861. All suggestions welcome. Thanks Marian
