Hi Claire.nice to see you on this Thread..a break from Derbyshire.......

First things first..are you sure its BOWIN and not BOWEN????

There are no Bowin's in my limited registers..but there is an interesting Bowen.........

JOSEPH BOWEN..son of Frederick and Frances Bowen baptised Holy Trinity 24.10.1808

If i know for definite which it is I have other sources where i might find them

Hi Derek

Definately a refreshing break from the Derbyshire lot. This Hull branch has had me stumped for a while.

Henry Bowin 1815 was a mariner and named Frederick Bowin as his father, also a mariner, on his marriage cert.

The surname does keep changing from Bowin to Bowen so it wouldnt suprise me if my lot are actually under Bowen.

I did find an IGI baptism in 1815 at Holy Trinity for Henry and it was spelt Bowin. Parents Frederick & Frances. I couldnt find any other children though as part of this batch.

I did, on the IGI again, find a baptism of a child named Frederick Bowin who was baptised in 1803 at saint Mary, Hull. Son of Frederick & Frances. I think this could be a brother of Henry.

Many thanks for the baptism of Joseph, I do believe he is another brother of Henry and someone else to look at.

Goodmorning, thank you so much for the names of Richards parents and yes the date I gave you for Mary was not correct. The year of Marys birth I was given many years ago was1824, but this may not be right either. Thanks Derek. Pat

Hello Derek,
Thank you for your offer of researching East Yks. Hope it still stands as I see you have your Derbyshire offer on again as well.
Would your records go back to 1784 as I think that is about the time of my gt-gt-gt-grandfather Richard Edmond's birth. I am taking that date from various census returns, in 1841 he was in Flamborough aged 58, 1851 in Great Kelk where it says he was born in Weverthorpe (Weaverthorpe?) aged 67 and 1861 still in Great Kelk where it gives his place of birth as Spaunton which I could not read very well, might even be Speeton as that is near Flamborough, aged 77. He died in May 1861. In all the census returns he is with wife Grace. I have not been able to find a birth for a Richard Edmond/Edman or Edmund on the IGI Individual Record that matches up with his approximate birth dates of 1784/86. I did find a Richard Edmond and Grace Massendre marriage in 1808 in Carnaby from the IGI, but of course was not able to find the father's names from that. There are so many Edmund/Edmond names that I could not ascertain which would be his parents and before I can go any further back of course I need their names and am just hoping you might be able to help and thank you very much in advance if you can. Regards, Jean.

However i have found the marriage.
