do you think its possible that frank left gertrude as his passed record tells us what hes like and gertrude had another child with someone else and thats why his dad hated him so much because it wasnt his dad

another clue charles used to say his name was charles edward nelson john fitzgerald atkinson was he just messing with us or could john be a stepdad to him

Viv...I think we have All done a jolly good " job " on this family...I cant help looking in every time I'm on here and have enjoyed doing it, along side you all (wish I could say the same about my flipping lot!!) I love a good "hunt" and of course, it all help's my (still much to learn) "find them" skill's.

Hello Janey
Welcome to the fray.

Hmmm,HOW??

(My gr-grf's sister did that when she
married in 1875.??
Said she was 19, just like her groom. That's how I missed finding her birth in the untranscribed images -- looked all the way back to first quarter 1855, which would have made her 20 in July 1875 when she married. Turns out
she was born last quarter 1874, ??
making her closer to 21 than 19.)

Evie's gone, you'll have to make do with me.

I think Mistycat may be on to something.

Gertrude admitted to being a year older than her groom when she married. It's not at all unimaginable that she was really older than that, and just not letting on.

(My gr-grf's sister did that when she married in 1875. Said she was 19, just like her groom. That's how I missed finding her birth in the untranscribed images -- looked all the way back to first quarter 1855, which would have made her 20 in July 1875 when she married. Turns out she was born last quarter 1874 [strike it, strike it: 1854], making her closer to 21 than 19.)

I think Mistycat could definitely be onto something.

But if that's her in 1901, she made a shift to Durham at some point. But then, the 1911 census does give her birthplace as Norfolk, so our Gertrude did make that shift.

As for the father being reported deceased on the marriage certificate but apparently dying much later ... I might not put too much stock in the marriage cert.

But ... actually, I think Mistycat just lighted on the wrong death!

Deaths Sep 1902
Mace Edward 55 Yarmouth 4b 22

The 1901 census has him aged 54 in Yarmouth. So that death is actually a perfect match!
