I totally agree with misty that the hunter boagey/esther bayes are not your line
I have double checked them today as i thought it was a possibility
how can they be married on 1901 and esther also with atkinson
So they are different people.

This is the only Atkinson / mace birth i can find after 1911 census
maybe this is lou but I think too far away from durham.
Unless they moved that way?

Births Dec 1920 (>99%)
Atkinson Peggy I Mace W. Ham 4a 611

no Boagey /mace births.
different mother maybe, but still no lou or lucy

Bit long in the tooth for her though although the right name

Deaths Dec 1885 (>99%)
BOAGEY Francis 68 Hartlepool 10a 74

there is one male death of an 18 year old in 1884 but its in guisborough not hartlepool

Sean

Please can you tell me where you got Lucy from...could she have been called Louisa?

There was a Louisa born 1910, Gateshead, Durham but she died 1918.
I wonder if this may be her and she was in hospital for long period's so was not at home on 1911 census...just a thought!

Was she talked about as though they grew up together?

FannyByGaslight Report 8 Apr 2009 16:55

That child is not showing on 1911 misty,so she must be in gateshead i would think as that isnt online yet
it was supposed to be today ,still waiting though,I want northumberland as well.

The last three ENGLISH counties are being checked for release{,never mind the welsh ones that i want ,like 3 / all of them} ,supposed to be today, but who knows when?
I dont think she is the lou we want really but i may be wrong too, find out if/when they release the last english counties?
I think to find her we need seans mum to delve far back for memories for any little lead.

John Atkinson sure liked his women younger than him,and he does not appear to age??
image is def 54 but in 1901 he is 54?and 1891 44?

EvieBeavie Report 9 Apr 2009 01:24

Er ... hello, you lot.

I was just finding something much more recent for Sean, and he nagged at me to come have a look here. Don't know what for. It would take me all night just to follow the story you two have spun. Doesn't seem to be any need for that! Looks like you have it all sorted. Except, I guess, for LucyLoo.

Well Sean, I'll add my vote to *get the birth certificate*

Births Dec 1908
Boagey Charles Edward N Durham 10a 418

and be patient until then. ;)

EvieBeavie

EvieBeavie Report 9 Apr 2009 01:49

But I may have one little idea.

Viv found:

Births Dec 1884
Mace Gertrude Lilly Norwich 4b 145

and we have:

Births Jun 1902
MACE Louisa Mary Norwich 4b 159

this person in 1911:

MACE LILY LOUISA 1903 8 Norwich Norfolk

is accounted for by a matching birth in Wayland district.

And there is no death of a young Louisa Mace 1903-1911.

Hmm, crap. The 1911 has:

MACE LOUISE MARY F 1902 9 Norwich Norfolk

This is the rest of the household:

MACE CHARLES ELEANOR 1858 53 Norwich Norfolk
MACE ELLEN CHARLOTTE 1868 43 Norwich Norfolk
MACE CHARLOTTE ELIZA 1889 22 Norwich Norfolk
MACE FREDERICK ALBERT 1897 14 Norwich Norfolk
MACE GERTRUDE EMMA 1898 13 Norwich Norfolk
MACE PHILIP MICHAEL 1907 4 Norwich Norfolk
MACE REGINALD GEORGE 1894 17 Norwich Norfolk

So it looks like my guess is off -- unless that's Lou living with an uncle or summat. Interesting there's a Gertrude. And patriarch Charles Eleanor, hmm, spinning in his grave, I imagine.

Has anybody found Gertrude Mace in 1891 or 1901? Danged if I can.

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 9 Apr 2009 12:18

Well hello Evie
Twice in 2 days what?
Im beggered if I could find miss gertrude mace in census either,I did look straight after I found that birth, but didnt bring it up as I didnt want to seem lacking in "find her"skills
But now you cant find her either, well !

And if this was my family I would also send for this certificate to sort out the parentage of william francis boagey who is the father of charles edward nelson boagey/atkinson

Births Jun 1884 (>99%)
Boagey William Francis Hartlepool 10a 156

,and there is no "twin"reg at the same time with the name of william too that I can see,why call both the boys william?that would be overdoing things a little wouldnt it ?along with all the francis/frances in the family too.
And any way the other census in 1901 proves to me he was not born an atkinson ,so therefore can not be william atkinsons twin.
viv

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 9 Apr 2009 14:13

So Sean.
If three of us cant find miss gertrude mace at home in 1901 or 1891 then it looks like you may have to spend some more of that stuff that doesnt grow on trees to have a chance of finding her.
And I will add that if Evie cant find her then I have no chance.

Marriages Sep 1907 (>99%)
ATKINSON Frank Auckland 10a 477
MACE Gertrude Auckland 10a 477

so kiss goodbye to another £7 in the hunt for your ancestors if you want to go back further.
And I seem to remember Evie saying somewhere that she likes spending other peoples money instead of her own,so it would make her happy too.

hi all wonded if you could tell how did they record the cences in them days did ever house just fill a form in and send it off if they did anyone could just put what they wanted to down

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 9 Apr 2009 16:11

No Sean
They paid a man to to do as many in a day as they thought he could.
He was called ,,an enumerator,,so its his handwriting and descriptions you see.
But of course he only wrote what the people said and they could still lie,as in saying a child was their son / daughter even if it was a grandchild that was illegitimate,or a stepson really who was down as a son.
The 1911 census WAS done by the head of the house though,or the one who could read and write.
So if you have any images of 1911 then that is your ancestors handwriting more than likely.
