FannyByGaslight Report 11 Apr 2009 21:52

Evie you didnt explain about the little "yes"tick needed when the gro ask if you have the gro ref numbers.
I dont know ,this mopping up is hard going sometimes.

BTW Evie, how do I open an account now please ,as I didnt at the time I registered.

EvieBeavie

EvieBeavie Report 12 Apr 2009 00:07

I think this is it:

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp

It seems you *have* to register now in order to order certificates.

For Sean - once you've registered and logged in, you get the order form, and this is where you say "yes", down at the bottom --

For all events
Is the General Register Office Index known? (Explanation) Yes No

Evie
Yes I registered some many moons ago.

EvieBeavie Report 12 Apr 2009 21:04

Oh - yes, you can do that, open an account so you don't have to give the card details every time, I'm pretty sure. In fact, I think I've used that site to check the details of my credit card when I didn't have it handy, for something else. ;) I dunno, maybe next time you order something you'll get the option?

Now there is a spanner thrown into the works!!

Marriages Sep 1904 (>99%)
Boagey William Francis Auckland 10a 384 <<<<<<<<
Bradley Arthur Auckland 10a 384
Gardiner Martha Auckland 10a 384 <<<<<<<<
Layton Ruth Ann Auckland 10a 384

And even better I can not see a death for martha before 1907.

Wonder if he married Gertrude as Atkinson as he was already married then?

viv was i right then looks like the same william was married before as you say remarried as a atkinson could have! how if thats the case could he get away with it did they not check or in them days did they not really care what people did

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 13 Apr 2009 16:42

It can and is still done today.
Not much changes.
Except now its easier to get a divorce, so I guess bigamy is not around so much.
Mind you you only hear of the cases that are found out.

Of course if you want to know if it might be the same man you would have to send for that marriage cert as well!!
You need full wallets/purses for this lark I tell you.
