Gore Phyllis Greening Winchcomb 6a 536

Do you think this could be Yvonne Gore??

Moody Blue Report 12 May 2009 20:51

Hi Annie,

Have you thought about any of the information contained in the reply at the top of this page? There are a number of bits of info that are very close to the family that you are looking for. For instance, Letitia Queenie Gore known as Queenie, Frederick George Gore (who died not long before Yvonne just as Patricia said) Probablty known as George if the rest of the family are anything to go by as most of them are known by their middle name.Even their father married in the name of John Gore when his correct name was Arthur John Gore. A sister called Daphne ( possible that Queenie named her daughter after her) And then there is Elvina E M Gore born 3rd qtr but in 1917, It has already been shown that mistakes are made when registrations take place and perhaps this is one also. The name Elvina and Yvonne sound similar ...well sort of..........and perhaps she chose to be known as Yvonne.

There are so many "coincidences" that I feel inclined to give this family some thought.

I vote with Brenda as she has just put into words all that I was thinking.
yvonne is a much more accepable GOOD english name than Elvina and there is an m in there for May.
Maybe the second name was even less to her liking than elvina.
Although to be sure about Elvina, the marriages would need to be gone through to be sure she didnt appear anywhere, and if not then the deaths to make sure.
But there is no ronald?

How about trying to find out if the surname Knight rings a bell with Pat?

Back later, off out to the pub for quiz night.

Maybe............one of these could be Ronald:-

BIRTH
Jun 1922
Gore Ronald L mmn Gore Winchcomb 6a 721

Births Jun 1931
Gore Ronald mmn Gore Winchcomb 6a 576

and just maybe he could be the son of one of the Gore daughters born to John and Maria.

Annie, with reference to Elvina possibly Yvonne, just as Viv says:-

"Although to be sure about Elvina, the marriages would need to be gone through to be sure she didnt appear anywhere, and if not then the deaths to make sure."

If after that, I would think about sending for her birth certificate and if the day and month (not the year) agree with her dob on her death certificate then it would possible to say that you have found her.

FannyByGaslight Report 15 May 2009 19:13

By seeing if the date of birth matches her death one, just the date and month will be enough ,the same as stanleys.

Moody Blue Report 15 May 2009 19:20

What have you got to lose by ordering her certificate.?

If her date of birth is the same date, same month but 2 years earlier than on the death certificate then there is every possibility that it is her.

Other info to take into consideration re Elvina:

(1) She had a sister known as Queenie (as Patricia has told you)
(2) She had a brother Frederick GEORGE Gore who died not many years before she did ( just as Patricia said)
(3) She was born in the Cheltenham district
(4) None of the family appeared to be known by their first names so it is possible that she wanted to be known as Yvonne.
(5) She had a sister Daphne that maybe Queenie named her daughter after?
(6) There are a couple of Ronald Gores born in Winchcomb, Cheltenham with mmn Gore that could possibly be the son of one of her older sisters so therefore not a brother but a nephew perhaps.

If it were me. I would take a chance on the certificate just as you did on Stans.

Other leads to follow:

Wait until the 1911 census is available for Wales and see if Stanley had any siblings.

Stanley's first marriage cert. Might be a sibling as a witness.
