I have a Flack whomarried her 1st cousin also a Flack. When he died she married another first cousin also a Flack.
Kept the paperwork simple.

In 1841 There were just 14 pages of people living in Arrow. Very small village. and there were one Phillips couple. From their ages they could be her parents

Arrow with Weethley is a civil parish in the Stratford district of Warwickshire, England. The parish lies midway between Redditch and Evesham. It contains the villages of Arrow and Weethley. The parishes were merged in 2004. [1]

Arrow is a village in the Stratford-on-Avon Warwickshire, England. From Alcester the River Arrow flows southwards to the Avon, and to the west of the river the present road to Evesham joins that to Worcester at a busy junction where, near the Old Toll House, stands the hamlet of Arrow, a group of modernized black and white farm workers' cottages which have risen up the social scale to become homes for business people.


Hey I am planning on going that direction in July after some of mine.

ARROW, a parish and suburb of Alcester, in the hundred of Barlichway, in the county of Warwick, 1 mile from Alcester, its post town. It is situated on the river Arrow, which works several mills, and contains the hamlet of Oversley. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Worcester, value £248, in the patronage of the Marquis of Hertford. The church, which is dedicated to the Holy Trinity, is ancient and has a tower, which was rebuilt in 1760. Ragley Hall, a mansion erected by Lord Conway, about 1750, is the seat of the Marquis of Hertford: it is a magnificent pile, three stories high, with four faces of great architectural beauty, and contains a dining hall of 60 feet by 40, together with a library of 30,000 volumes, and many ancient paintings by Rubens, Vandyke, and others. It is at present unoccupied, and is open for the inspection of visitors on every day except Sundays."

I have Richard marrying Mary with Ann as their child. I need to look at your suggestions in more depth. Will do so on my return. Thanks. This lot requires more writing and sorting.

Spent four hours talking to the historical society ladies of Picton. Have seen the fiche records of the baptisms and the school enrolment registers for the children. Also some of the birth records.

On the public records the children are registered as Carter. In official birth registrations they all appear to be registered as Kimberley. Still missing information for the two oldest children Nellie and Albert. School records indicate that the children attended Tahmoor school and some of them left there to attend schools in the Sydney area.

Charles shows on the electoral rolls for the Tahmoor area between 1913 and 1919. There is a gap in the information between 1909 and 1912. Both Charles and Mariann appear at the same address on the 1930 and 1936 rolls.

I have an image from the Marathon passenger lists from the port of London to Sydney NSW, 21st August 1909. It contains CE Carter, aged 33, born Sunderland as an AB in the crew list, and Mary Kimberley, as a servant in the third class passenger list. Voyage is London via Melbourne to Sydney.

Found another image dated in September 1909 with CE Carter on the Marathon as a crew member. Voyage was from the port of Newcastle NSW to Sydney NSW. Mariann is not on the passenger list.

Yes. Rather travel weary. Even more confused. Whole pile more of unanswered questions and more work to do.

Wondering if searching the UK census for Mary Kimberley will produce her whereabouts between 1891 and 1901.

I am also about to embark on a search which will involve one of the Carter/Kimberley children, her spouses and their children. This will, I hope, discover living relatives. Not able to search through the historical indexes as the dates are outside of the allowable criteria. Will have to rely on family research networks.

By the way. have you seen this info from Ancestry??

My family first set foot in the new world in 1909, same as your couple here. ;) Actually, one set of gr-grparents in 1908, then the other set on that side in 1909 (they were the ones who first went to Australia and had a couple of offspring there 20 years before), and on the other side, just the grandparents, in 1923ish with one kid. I got no "Canadian roots". All the stuff at Ancestry is for proper United Empire Loyalists and such. ;)

Just two small contributions. In Victorian passenger lists, the "B" stands for "from British ports" as distinct from "F" (foreign).
I am not absolutely certain of this, but I think Victorian lists include all passengers even where their final destination is elsewhere, e.g. Brisbane, whioch is in Queensland.
Victorian Shipping records are far superior to those of NSW, and Queensland's were pathetic but are now improving.

Hi DET and Colin, Thanks for those pieces of information. I haven't yet ventured into the world of Parish Records, well I don't think I have!! Must have a looksee some time.

About the B on the Victorian shipping lists. That makes more sense than Brisbane. Iam now of the understanding that the ship came from London via Melbourne to Sydney then onto Brisbane. MIEK hopped off in Sydney and Charles continued onto Brisbane and then returned to Sydney.

I agree about the superiority of the Victorian records. Would also like to find a better way of searching incoming shipping to the UK. The only version available seems to be through Ancestry.
