Perhaps you need the Parish Registers for the area they lived in. Not sure where they would be kept, perhaps London Metropilitan Archive.

Hi Deb,

This maybe way off the mark........... however it also maybe worth a try???

I couldn't pinpoint any Bradley King children in the area, so maybe the lady had been married previously or maybe she wasn't of child bearing age??? If it is your lady there wasn't any Bradley Cooley children either, but I guess at the age of 55 you would expect that. Again it's just a stab in the dark, but you never know???

Thanks Dee

Well that looks like it could be something

I will get those two and I will have to let you know on that one.

Her DOB is the same and it is possible that she did get married again even though she did not divorce my grandad.

I will update when I recieve the Cert

Finger's Crossed

Thanks again

Hi Debbie - can't post in your thread on the Help Clinic :(
but I was was curious!

I've read through quickly -- has anyone noted that brother Richard is not with the family in the 1891 census?

Richard Cooley 27
Ellen Cooley 26
James Cooley 4
Catherine Cooley 3/

He was the eldest, and the one she was living with in 1911, and teh one who put her name on his military papers. Do we know where he was? or have I missed something?

I'm just wondering whether he and she were siblings, but maybe not actually children of Richard and Ellen.

Also, I'm wondering how you ruled out the death:

England & Wales, Death Index: 1984-2005
about Nellie Bradley
Name: Nellie Bradley
> Birth Date: 22 Jun 1901
Death Registration Month/Year: Jul 1986
Age at death (estimated): 85
Registration district: Nottingham
Inferred County: Nottinghamshire
Volume: 8
Page: 993

-- you say it isn't your Eleanor, but not what it was on the death certificate that told you that.

Searching in 1891 for a Richard born in Bishopsgate, I considered a "Richard H Groves" in Spitalfields, born Spitalfields 1886, matching a Richard William Groves registered in Whitechapel 1886, in but he's in the 1901 with the same parents.

Wonderful. I just added a reply (unimportant, ruling out another Richard), and now I can't see the thread at all. I assume this is one of today's temporary glitches ... just testing now ...
