Rosemary, it would be a very good idea to link to this thread in your post on Living Relatives.

People who read it there will, for the most part, have no idea the search was discussed at such length before.

As you will be able to see for your post on the new board, the only people reading posts there are regular users of this site. (Watch the number of views, which will be very low.)

So there is a risk that someone will undertake searches that have already been exhausted in this thread, in an effort to help you.

Please edit that post to add the link to this thread, which is:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/ancestors/johnson/thread/1160331

We do all wish you the best of luck, it just wouldn't be fair if someone new were to spend time doing things that have already been tried. Thanks.

Can anyone think of any other options to help Rosemary here,we have ruled out the marriages,
The bad news is that emigration records only goup to 1960, what about if she joined the armed forces ? any ideas where records like this would be held ?
Or can anyone suggest any other secenarios ?

Hi Janey,
The lady in Belfast was born in Ireland we found out. Also her brother was a Priest, she was Roman Catholic.
We found out about her from the registrar in Belfast who I contacted to ask about marriages. So it definitely wasn't our Mary Teresa. We did a lot of research in to it.
I just posted the thread again in case anyone had a fresh idea or two. Just a stab in the dark really.
One thing I do know is, we can't find a marriage for Mary Teresa in this country. We have had every certificate which could pertain to her.
Anyway thanks Janey. Nice to hear from you

Hi Rosemary, remembered your thread immediately when it popped up in "my threads" just now.

I wonder whether you are absolutely certain the Mary T in Belfast was not the right person. Dates of birth can become blurred, when a person is not in a stable situation as a child. Was all the info you got definitely solid enough to rule her out?

You say she was the same age -- but there was only one Mary T Johnson birth registered in Birmingham anytime in the 1940s and the only other Mary Johnson was in 1949. Or maybe the woman in Belfast wasn't born in Birmingham? But in fact no Mary T Johnson was born anywhere else in 1945 -- 1944 in Liskeard and 1943 in St Helens is all. (I hadn't understood how you learned about that person in the first place.)

It's now a few months since I last posted on here. Just wondered if after a few months respite, if anyone has any fresh ideas we could try please?
We have had no luck whatsoever, it is almost as if Mary Teresa has vanished!
With thanks Rosemary

Hi Everyone,

It would appear the lady in Belfast is not my hubbies sister! Although she has the same name, same age, 3 brothers she dearly wanted to see & had a hard life her DOB doesn't match & apparently one of her brothers was a Priest.
There was a big RAF base near Birmingham in the 1960s, RAF Cosford, which was for American & British servicemen. I wonder did Mary meet an American & go back to America with him & marry over there?! I have written to RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk to see if they hold the records for RAF Cosford. Also did Mary enlist with the RAF herself & move away.
Anyway I will keep you posted.
Sorry about the confusion, it has been very stressful.

My thanks to you all
Rosemary

It is a sad end to the search - but hopefully her children and their families will be glad to know they have family who were looking for her. Best wishes to you all too.
