who said to google?? well i did all the combintions of echo/egoho and I hit a gold mine! I now know for sure they changed the name in 1890. Lydia was christened hagar in dec 1890.

John eghor?? was born 30/08/1893 and christened with the german eghor
william echo? egorno? was born 18/10/88 and was christened with the geman name.

Also found the link to home they were in 82 or 32 Benledi street in liverpool

Very intersteing taken them all with a pinch of salt but good stuff!! thanks for the tip about googling!!!

Thanks for the information. I will have a little look 2night. I have tried to find peter hagar again but having no luck at all. cant find the surname on here no matter what i use?? so I am a little stuck with peter hagar born 1885-1950. I beleive the name change was between 1901-1911 due to the war. The children must also have had the old name so thats why so hard to find them and what they were doing..

going to nurse my hangover and go to a christening today. I am still trying to get over that my nans dad's dad was german. I know My nans dad peter did goto war and did become a P.O.W he also got a medal. How weird. German father but went to war with the bristish. mmmmmmm

Since your nan was only a=18-19 on 23/9/1950, I presume there was some problem over parental permission that needed court intervention


Re Ancestry: get the 2 weeks free trial first, then cancel - give yourself time to sort stuff out, then buy a month's sub.
Ancestry has completed FreeBMDs B/M transcriptions 1916-1983. They also have the computerized GRO index for BMDs 1984-2005.

For Deaths 1916-1983, one would have to search quarter by quarter - course this is a pain, so first one would check FreeBMD at:
http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

So one could enter the Ancestry Birth search for Miles - Robinette kids and find John 1934q2 and Josephine T 1936q3.

If we search the FreeBMD Death transcriptions, they've only done 1939q1, and it's 1939q4 we need (although we don't know that yet). One can search the images on FreeBMD's "view images" link from their home page (but one has to hunt and peck to find we need index p84 - it's much easier on Ancestry).

I am back frommy night out.. and yes this is a an intersting tree. my nan has just found out she is of german decnet... and she does haved a living relative who still lives in liverpool who is 85!!!

Its all good and thanks to you and GR i have done a tentative search.. will do more over the following weeks.. as still not getting the link between her dad hagar and mother robinette.... and have maped it but still more researched needed my nans mum was the black sheep! leaving a child with the husband !

my nan has memores of seeing her mum in a cinema with a man,,, dad was away at war?? maybe... she ran to her and wanted some motherlylove. she was told to bugger off!! as she was not wated! mmmmm my nans mum was a characheer...

Try googling the surname.

The ones I found were on familysearch google that and eperiment.

Do not get to caught up with spellings.
education was not so good so they wrote it how they heard it. I have a will document with half a dozen spellings of the same name ranging from Bragginton to Brock referring to the same person.

They wrote it like they heard it.

And if they spoke with an unfamiliar accent........
