However, just to confuse names, I have evidence from censuses that she is Mary Dobson rather than Dodson.

Can you tell me if they had any children as I cannot seem to find any?

These are the ones the has Dobson as mother's maiden.. I know its not in Brentford, but perhaps they moved? I'm clutching straws.. Correct me if you do know they was still in Brentford area after marriage.

Alexander Rennie married Florence M Saunders Jul-Aug-Sep 1922.

John William Saunders married a Ada Harwood Feb 1929 aged 25 and his dads name is Thomas william Saunders.

I need to find out if Florence M and John W Saunders are are related.

Sorry have not got Florance or John mothers maiden name as it does not tell you who she was in 1900

I am trying to trace my paternal grandfather's family and hope you will be able to help further. My grandfather was Matthew Rotchford born in Edinburgh, Scotland in about 1887. He married a Jane Watson in Leith 1/7/1911. I believe his father was also a Matthew Rotchford b. about 1861 and any information you can find on who his father was, his wife or any other children would be most appreciated. Also anything on my grandmother Jane Watson as I know nothing about her.

Seeing that you have date of Matthew & Jane's marriage - do you have a copy of their marriage? If so, anything mentioned of Jane's parentage? If not, you'd need to get it from ScotlandsPeople which costs 5 Credits (£6 for 30 credits).

Seeing Matthew stated as being born in Ireland .. I have checked LDS there are few born abt 1861 in Scotland!

Sorry I cant go further back on Rotchford as Ireland is out of my league!

I think Florance was 18 when she married Alexander and the Saunders came from Woolwich area but not 100 percent sure.

Ihave Florance going to Canada in 1926 with Barbara Rennie who died in the fire.

When I looked at the passenger list for Florence Rennie.. It stated that she was born in Reading, so had a look in the 1911 Census (I've no credit but it was free to search)

This came up..

Florence May 1899
Hilda Rose 1902

Living in Reading, Berkshire.. So no Thomas with them, without knowing who were her parents or even who was their father, I cannot look for them and assume its them. You'd need to get both marriage cert to see the father's names and see if they match or not (it could be cousins via their father being brothers).

Thank you so much for the information you have given me. I always thought I had a Scottish background but it appears I was wrong. I don't have a marriage certificate for Jane Watson and Matthew Rotchford, just my father's birth certificate which gave me the date of their marriage. I shall go to Scotlands People as you suggest.

As to Catherine and Matthew not marrying until 1898 I wonder if she wasn't free to marry until then as she seems to have a 19 year old son Owen from a previous relationship. Did people divorce in those days?

my information is very scant trying to help a friend find a Florence Langley, who married and became Florence Barker, London, that's all we know, we believe Florence was run over and killed by a tram in London in or about 1923.
Anything at all would be great.

I've found 2 marriage of Florence Langley .. One in 1906 Fulham which had a Joseph Barker in the list or 1913 Wandsworth marrying Harold Barker.

Do you know how old was she when she died? Or the names of her parents so I can see which area she may have came from..?

After checking his Attestation papers, it said that his next of kin (Gertrude) lives in NB, not Frank so cant always assume that he lives there too.

Also the papers was signed in 1914 (which he stated not married) and you say he was killed in 1915 so either he got married between 1914 and 1915 or never did.

Here is Gertrude which might've been his sister that was mentioned in the Attestation Papers.

Immigration year was 1906 which tallies with Frank's arrival in Canada in 1906 also.

Cannot find Frank's marriage in NB, only can spot Gertrude's marriage in Carleton. Sorry for not able to find it.
