These are in Ireland?

Yeah, Peter doesn't make it easy. We'd been talking England up to then.

So I assumed we were talking about this couple in the 1911:

Marriages Sep 1902
Cross William W. Derby 8b 528
> FARRELL Margaret W. Derby 8b 528 - daughter of Michael - ?
> French Joshua James W. Derby 8b 528
Rigby Elizabeth Maud W. Derby 8b 528

Clarity hoped for!

HI Janey , yes that is Michael , I checked on the original and it is most definately him . (more mistakes than enough in transcribing my ancestors)

Peter

Peter Report 31 May 2011 14:28

Hi Clover, I am sorry if I am confusing everyone .
I have reasonable records now of Michael and Margaret once they arrived in England including their marriage in church at Chorley . and their lives in Liverpool . It is his father Peter and his mother Alice ( who we believe stayed in Ireland ) that we are now interested in .

JaneyCanuck Report 31 May 2011 14:49

Peter, do you know whether any of the Farrells in the Irish census on the previous page are yours?

And how about the Stephen Farrell marriage Clover has suggested? He was the one shown in the earlier English census as married, if I recall correctly without hunting back again.

If that's his marriage, the certificate could tell you things maybe.

If the people in the Irish censuses are related, it would give you other names to use in searches backward. Sometimes if you can't find your own ancestor's baptism record, for instance, you can find a sibling's. Or, if you're looking for your ancestor's parents' records, you might find records for a parent's siblings.

I am trying to make sense of them at the moment , especially the marriage of Stephen .I have asked Clover where he found the info .
It is a bit overwhelming to get all that info at once . but I will work through for any links .

I
told
you
so

I posted this summary of deceased Peter Farrells in Armagh on page 2:

1840-1906
>> 1817-1897
1825-1900
1818-1889

that one and the 1818 one having been the two possibilities, in view of the birthdates of the sons and the likely birthdate of wife Alice (the death record I posted on page 2).

Is there any chance that Alice's actual death certificate info would include her birth surname, oh ye Irish experts?

;-)

No Irish death records don't include maiden names

Indeed, giving a link to where information is found / can be found is really the best thing to do!

Unless, aha, this is coming from a disk, which I suspect.

Clover , your info on Peter ,Rose and daughter Alice in 1901 census seems to suggest that Peter returned from England which fits in as we could find no trace in English 1901 census.
thank you
