Hi again Gooner.there is one very obvious answer........the Gilbert Measham who married Elizabeth Stanley was not born in 1747...........what information and Source do you have that he was????

On my family database I have a William and Mary Shooter (nee Carlin) one of their children Leonard Charles Shooter, married into my family tree..

My rearch has Leonard marrying twice, Eliza Chamberlain who died in 1919, and Mary Ann Churchill

The Churchill's are my ancestors.

I cannot get anything about Gilbert born 1747 he is as far back as I go at the moment. I only have him none of his siblings or indeed his parents. I did not think that the Gilbert on that tree was one of mine either but sort of hoping as then I could have got a bit further back. Saying that there must be a link somewhere as Repton is not exactly a huge place.

ok..in which case it appears that the Family tree as it stands has no link with your own.....

I am begiining to accept the Tree since it appears to rely on things like Wills and land grants and such like, which do not rely on Parish records..which beyond about 1700 are unreadable anyway. Ihave found Gilberts 1747 and 1776 of course..but fit any of yours into this tree will require a lot of luck in tracing some of the marriages and children thta haven't been followed through.
The present situation includes Gilbert 1599.........Gilbert 1673..Gilbert 1700..Gilbert 1761 and Gilbert 1791.............it might be worth looking at marriages for some of these in other places than Repton...........Derby st Werbergh and Newton Solney spring immediately to mind..........................Oh Joy!!

Hi Derek, Gilbert who remarried Mary Ann Parker was the 2nd wife I believe you sent me that ages ago. Now as for all these Gilberts the one you need confirmation of does not tie in with my information. I have Gilbert 1776 as just mentioned who married Mary Meakin then Mary Ann Parker. I have another Gilbert born 1886 and another 1747 who married Elizabeth Stanley but none match with a Gilbert 1791.

Grandson is fine now thank you. it turned out to be some kind of virus and nothing serious but they did keep him in hospital for a couple of days

Hi Gooner..sincerely hop that all is well with your Grandson.........vis a vis our continuing battle with the Meashams I have decided that I need one or two things from you that will enable me to start a new offensive via a bit of lateral thinking.

You seem to be primarily bothered about identifying the lnks between various GILBERT MEASHAM,s..and also finding a way into the Family tree that you have sent me (Incidentally the two pages don't line up properly!..but can manage.
The way in, as it were, appears to be via Gilbert Measham 1791 son of THOMAS MEASHAM and SARAH nee SIMPSON..and nephew of GILBERT MEASHAM 1761 (Thomas 1759 and Gilbert 1761 were brothers),,children of ARTHUR and SARAH..........this is confirmed and substantiates that part of your correspondents Tree.

I need from you, confirmation,,or otherwise that Gilbert Measham 1791 is part of your definite "Measham Lot"............

By the way i have solved the problem Gilbert and mary Meakin.......she died and he remarried a MARY ANN.........more later..

Hmmmm conflictions here. I have my Gilbert who married Mary born 1776 not 1790. I would appreciate you having a close look at this for me please as I would rather trust your findings to the other source who I believe is full of hot air ! :-D :-D :-D.

Richard we believe was born 1705 Repton. his ancestor was apparantley according to her was Roger. I will forward the email that has the tree on it for you to view it is 2 pages.

Well you did ask :-D :-D :-D :-D. These Meashams are addictive as I would love to link them into Richard Measham as I am in touch with one of his descendants who is a professional geneologist

Oh BH here we go again on the bedevilled Meashams!!.you know i hate them, but am as hooked on them as you are!!

Early days.but try the following for size:-

Gilbert Measham baptised 19.09.1790 son of Thomas and Sarah was buried at Repton 07.05.1858.

Gilbert Measham or Measom born c.1747...married Elizabeth Standely (Stanley) 12.05.1772..who was buried at Repton 09.06.1826 aged 77.

There is also a Gilbert Measham who was born in 1776..buried 22.01.1860.......and another burial for a Gilbert Measham 20.09.1734

We already know (ad nauseam) from earlier work about Gilbert measham supposed two marriages to different Mary's.............was it Parker and Meakin??...and i'm still not sure he did..becasue there was some little thing bothering me at the time.and it still is.........

However..........here we go again..as they say!! xx

Gilbert Measham died 1858 + wife Mary born 1751. no death date sorry. In fact he had 2 wives Mary.

Gilbert Measham born 1747 wife Elizabeth born 1751. no death dates for these 2 either

LA...when you get a moment just give me the Meashams Burials you can't find..and I'll do my best.......they may have been buried elsewhere but reasonably local....

..the "joke" is just a jibe at the prevalence of Pork Butchers in my various findings on your behalf!

Meashams........so hit me......with names.......not necessarily Measham...( i had good old Derbyshire Pork Sausages for dinner tonight!!!)............a very secret joke!!

Afternoon Derek, I am a bit tied up with other matters at the moment but will no doubt have more for you soon when things settle. In the meantime do you happen to know if there are burial records for St Wystan's church Repton and where could I find them please. Also how about school records for the village too, not Repton 'posh school ' ;-) :-D

Hello Catherine..my strong point is actually pre-1911............but I can tell you that:-
PHYLLIS M DIFFORD married MAURICE E OLLERENSHAW in the last Quarter of 1947..in Bakewell Registration District..............this does not mean that she married actually in Bakewell....but anywhere in the area..including Matlock.
