Hi Sylvia

Having got the hose pipe out and given the garden a drink I've just had a look at Metcheck. Rain due for us most of the morning. Wouldn't you just know it.

Hi Sylvia

I'm talking weather again I'm afraid but it's gone from the sublime to the ridiculous. After the heat we have been experiencing lately this morning I think the wind is blowing in from Siberia or something. What a difference in the temperature.

I was awake about 5.00 and got up for a cuppa. Did think of coming on to say hello - but decided to go back to bed instead.

Well, what do you know. They forecast rain. Not a drop!

Think we've got a micro-climate here. Perhaps the Solent is the cause. Bad weather goes up each side of it and misses my garden.

We did get the snow early this year though.

Hi Sylvia

Just checking in to do the morning rounds. Fingers crossed for my lilac tree. It has a sprinkling of the proper stuff overnight. Am now wondering if the volcanic ash cloud has something to do with it's poorly state. We definitely had two sprinklings of it - it was quite apparent from the state of the cars around here - without any rain to wash it off. Maybe it has just come to the end of it's natural life. Will have to check on Google - a very handy little item I've found.

Hope things go (or went) OK.

SylviaInCanada Report 28 May 2010 00:37

hope your lilac will be OK

Ours flowered beautifully this year, but the flowers are all dead now.

It was a very well established tree in the garden when we bought the house in 1972, so I have no idea how old it is, nor what variety .... except it is lilac purple!

Dozey Report 28 May 2010 08:09

Snap. There were too many lilac trees when I bought this in 1996. Kept a lot of light out of the back of the living area. Three white ones and the purple one - which is generally lovely. No actual lilac at all much to my disappointment in our first spring here. However, the white ones were not doing too well so they gradually went. Still haven't consulted Google about how long lived they are. Perhaps it is just old age that is getting to it! Like you I have no idea when it was planted.

Haven't checked on the chatty thread yet. Hope the squish wasn't too bad.
