Paul Report 3 Jan 2010 22:56

Thank god for extended families under one roof in the Census which confirms the Budd, Green, Carter, Basenger connections (upon connections).
Blood is thicker than water. - I suggest that would be a good name for a book in this instance!

AuntySherlock Report 4 Jan 2010 02:00

Yes and you may ponder my amazement when I found all the different names together, before I knew they were related and the connection.
While this lot is starting to make sense I have another off shoot of the family which has turned up in Australia. I am waiting for certificates to confirms relationships, then the questions will start.

What clever parents to understand how much that small gesture would be appreciated many years into the future.

By the way on page 6 of the Green thread you have given me the name of James David Budd's parents. Never had that info. Another piece of the jigsaw in place.

I really must go to bed.

Searching for Aunty Sherlock
Gone missing and I cannot find her anywhere.

Paul

Paul Report 8 Jan 2010 12:04

I found reference to Thomas Haggis 7 year transportation being commuted to army service on the UK National Archives site.
ref HO 47/32/10
What is interesting is the reference to a petition for mercy from 10 people of Pentlow, Essex on behalf of Thomas Haggis alias Agges.

BUT Pentlow is the topmost central parish in Essex, 50 miles from London. So if this Thomas Haggis was born there (not in the IGI) then he is not our man.
