All I know about his death is on some WA PARLEMENT RECORDS
stating about 1913 - I found a photo of him on the archives.

i also found him on 1903 on electral roll Perth- as Secretary of Coastal trades and labour council

1903 electied to Senate and in 1910 on the electrol roll as Commonwealth officer with an Emma Croft - Domestic
John William Croft retired in 1910 and the family story is that he boarded a ship for the Islands in 1913 and didn't reach his destination. -

Hi Wizzardess

From www.bdm.nsw.gov.au

14028/1871 CROFT JOHN W JAMES T ANNIE NEWCASTLE

His parents were James Thomas CROFT and Annie BASSETT, who married in 1868 in Newcastle NSW (reg 2875). He was one of 10 children.

Served in WA senate 1903-1910.

From http://newspapers.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/home:

The Brisbane Courier, Wednesday 8 July 1891
MARRIAGES.
CROFT-BRACEY.-On the 22nd June, at Kangaroo Point, by the Rev. E. Bishop, John William, second son of Alderman James T. Croft, of Tlghe's Hill, near Newcastle, New South Wales, to Emma, fourth daughter of the late Charles Bracey, of Birmingham, England.

They had a daughter named May Clara in 1891 in Qld (reg 48880). There was a son named Roy CROFT born in Perth, WA in 1903 to John William CROFT and Emma BRACEY (reg 4147).

Several sources state he died in 1913 but I cannot find it in WA. Nor a death or remarriage for Emma, or marriage or death for Roy in WA.

There is a NSW marriage for a Roy CROFT in 1929 to Mary E PALMER, but could be coincidence.

The Sydney Morning Herald, Saturday 20 February 1904
Senator Croft, of Western Australia, who is a native of Newcastle, delivered an open-air address to-night from the balcony of the Royal Exchange Hotel. The Mayor (Alderman Gilbert) presided. Senator Croft spoke at length in defence of the legislation promulgated by the Labour party, and in conclusion, said that the party intended to get a Federal Arbitration Bill through during the coming session which would include all Government employees.

The Advertiser (Adelaide), Thursday 2 November 1905
WESTERN AUSTRALIAN
ELECTIONS.
SENATOR CROFT REPLIES TO SIR
JOHN FORREST.
Melbourne, November 1.
Senator Croft, who for five years was organiser for the Western Australian Labor Party, to-day replied to Sir John Forrest's observations regarding the result of the Western Australian State elections.

"The recent Labor Government of Western Australia," said Senator Croft, "courted defeat by their namby-pamby methods of administration and their peculiar ideas as to policy..."

The Sydney Morning Herald, Tuesday 26 May 1908
SENATOR CROFT.
RECEIVING ORDER ISSUED.
J . PERTH (W.A.). Monday.
A receiving order was to-day issued against Senator J. W. Croft by the Registrar in Bankruptcy. The petitioning creditor was E. T. A, Bevan, and the act of bankruptcy was alleged failure to comply with the requirements of the bankruptcy notice issued in respect of a Judgement for £41 3s, obtained in the Supreme Court by the petitioning creditor against the debtor. The petition was served In Melbourne on May 6th. The debtor was not represented. '

[This order was anulled in June]

How interesting the Emma fits for the marriage, but very misterious,
as far as the death for John William Croft goes.

I will take a look at the Roy Croft you mention

Here's irony for you - father and son both met a similar fate!
The Argus, Monday 12 April 1909
FOUND DROWNED.
On Saturday, April 3, Arthur Harnett Wragg, engraver, 48 years of age, was missed from his home at Evans-street, Brunswick. His body was found in the sea, at Albert-park on Thursday. At the inquest on Saturday, evidence was given by the son of the deceased that his father had received an injury to the head from a bicycle accident. He had suffered from headaches since. There was nothing in his manner to indicate that he contemplated suicide. The autopsy by Dr. Brett disclosed a fracture of the right temple, and brain irritation at the site of the injury .A verdict of found drowned was returned.

The Argus, Thursday 27 June 1901
WRAGG.-On the 16th June, accidentally drowned at River Cam, Tasmania, Thomas D. Wragg, many years resident of North Melbourne, and beloved father of Arthur H. Wragg, wood engraver, of this city, aged 79 years.

Thos Dodd Wragg was a postmaster in Tasmania but had been a wood engraver in London, as was his brother. His father (who shared his name) was a solicitor and his mother a teacher and governess. Much about this family online. Thos’ estate was 476 pounds, went to his wife, Emily in August 1901

Wilfred's marriage notice:
The Argus, Saturday 26 August 1916
WRAGG-NORGROVE.-On the 14th June, 1916, at Hawthorn Presbyterian Church, by the Rev. W. G. Maconechie, M.A., Wilfrid Gordon, second son of the late Arthur Hartnet Wragg and Mrs. J. Wragg, Melbourne, to Frances Maisie, eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Norgrove, Melbourne.

Frances Maisey/Maisie was born in 1889 in Port Melbourne to John Thos NORGROVE and Elizabeth POWNE (reg 15317). Her death in 1958 is registered as both NORGROVE and WRAGG. Seems possible she reverted to her maiden name after the loss of her husband quite young. her parents also died young (her mum was 45 and her dad was 50). JT & Elizabeth married in Vic in 1888 (reg 5696); JT was from Birmingham and Elizabeth born in Penzance Cornwall to Wm & Sophia. (She arrived in Vic aged 3 in 1870 aboard 'Yorkshire'.)
