Hi Ellen

Sorry I can't see any births with mother as Fleming in that period, or any Ste*/Stearn/e...however, this appears to be the death of another son, born c1876. You may know of him just just in case...

Surname Stearn
Given name Joseph
Male
Age 82
Father William S
Mother Catherine
District Swan
Reg 116
Year 1957

He was a miner in Coolgardie c1917 according to NAA RecordSearch
Stearn, Joseph; age 42; address - Coolgardie WA [occupation - miner]

P.S. It is spelled Toodyay :)

EDIT: Joseph was born in Wangaratta in 1876 (reg 12838, mother's maiden name as FLEMMING)

Hi Cherilyn, I am hoping you might be able to find a birth for a William (Snowling) Stearn, his parents were William Snowling Stearn born 1821 & Catherine Fleming born abt 1842 they married 30/12/1862 at St Stephens Toodjay (Formally Newcastle)
William Jnr was born abt 1863 in WA (Died 20/7/1948 in East malvern Victoria aged 85 years)
I finally found after many years searching there departure from Perth for Sydney on the "Kestral" under the name of Fibbs- William, Catherine, William, He was a convict maybe why they changed their name for the passage, as they finally ended up in Wangaratta under the Stearn name

Many Thanks Ellen

Hi Valerie, sorry i can't see him emigrating to Australia.

A Mrs F. & Mr J. New came to NSW in 1930 aboard Otranto but he wasn't listed with them.

PS Their intended address was Bankstown - possible death for John NEW in that located in 1939 aged 74.

EDIT: Yes that was his death: https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/17601896
His wife died in 1947 - https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/18045518

I have Charlotte Forster b London 1806, married Benjamin Deacon. She disappears after the 1841 census but Benjamin is living with his sister in 1851 and says he is married, not widowed. Their daughter Charlotte Maria married Frederick Hoare in 1857 then the couple emigrated to Australia, I have a fairly full family history of them after that. However, I did wonder if Charlotte Deacon went with them, as I can't find her here in any way.
Would you be able to check her out for me please?
