There's a Kirkman place Camden in the electoral rolls.

regarding Carlo Bossi, How difficult do you think it would be to try and get his birth and death certificate. Probably his birth was in Northern Italy possibly Pavia. Not sure about death cert. I cannot find it in England. When he married his address on the marriage cert was listed as 9 Kirkman Place W. Does anybody know where that might have been and if it still exists.

Although I can't find a record of a divorce (they only go up to 1937 and she wouldn't have been able to marry in a catholic church if a divorcee) it's possible the marriage was anulled. Or they may have decided missing presumed dead.

This is correct, Her correct name was Rachel but she was always known as Ray
I have the marriage certificate and know it is correct as her brother Judah (Jack)
Penikoff and brother-in-law David Waterman were witnesses. Penikoff eventually became Penn later on.

Yes Rachael Penikoff and Mary Angela Rafaeli are indeed the same person.
She was baptised into the Catholic church on the day she married , according to the baptism certiuficate. I believe she may have taken the names Mary Angela for that reason. Also the surname psenichnikow (original birth surname) was omitted in error, this is according to an affidavit (I have the document). I believe this was done about the time she was of pension age. The document is from St.Muredach's Cathedral Ballina Co Mayo.

Ray is apparently a Jewish abbreviation of Rachael...or so my Jewish friend tells me.

Going back to the main point of the thread which was to find Carlo Bossi, I do think that the man we've tracked through the merchant seaman record, the passenger list, the census, the draft and the naturalisation papers are the right man.

The trail ends in 1946 as I haven't found a death for him (perhaps he went back to Italy?)

on the marriage reg to Carlo first name just says RAY

Just to check, are Rachel Penikoff and Mary Angela Rafaeli the same person?

My mother and Father were married in Ireland in the diocese of Killala on 9th April 1940 parish of Skreen and Dromard
names on certificates are Peter Henry (my father) and Mary Angela Rafaeli (mother)

It does not give her marital status.
Another certificate states that they were married in St Muredachs church in Ballina Co Mayo.
a further cert. mentions the names Psenichnikow and Penikoff.
(Psenichnikow was her birth name ,the family changed it to Penikoff and eventually Penn)

"1895 would probably have been his birth date or thereabouts. According to the marriage in 1926 he was aged 30. they were married in the Register office district of St Pancras date of marriage 13/01/1926. his occupation Hotel waiter.
Also his fathers name was Alfredo Bossi his occupation, Hotel Chef

Just one question - do you have your mum's marriage certificate from 1940 as I've been unable to find a record of it? If so, what was her marital status on it? (Sorry, that's 2 questions!)

Have checked divorce records on National Archives but they only go up to 1937.

There are numerous passenger lists with men named Carlo Bossi born in Italy around the same time but the birthplace and/or father's name doesn't quite fit.
