Hi,

Would it be possible to see if there is a likely baptism for Martha Jackson born c1724. She married George Scott 25 June 1749 in Everton, Nottinghamshire.
There were two known children to this marriage John 1751 and Sarah 1754 but there may be others that I do not know about.

George was born in 1724 - Gringley on the Hill. I am not sure if this was in Nottinghamshire during this time as it is on the border with Yorkshire. His parents were George and Mary but this is all I know I have no marriage for them.

Any help wil be much appreciated.

Sandra

Hi Sharon,

Thank you for the information. I had three of baptisms for the Scotts of Gringley on the Hill but I did not have Samuel 1733. I had Samuel 1728, so I am guessing that the first Samuel died.

I think the baptism for Martha Jackson looks interesting. I had looked on igi but the one you found is not there. With this information I put in the parents name with a ten years either side of the 1721 and 6 siblings poped up for Martha. I wonder why Martha was not listed? These were Elizabeth b 29. 8. 1714, Ann 24.8.1718, Mary 14.6.1722, John 25.7.1725, Sarah 19.7.1730, and John 14.8.1737. There may be more as clearly Martha was not there.

I wonder if I might ask you to look to see if any of the above married in Everton. It would be nice to be able to make another link between the two villages.

Igi also offers a baptism for John Jackson in Srooby 17 .4.1684. The parents being John and Martha Jackson. I wonder if you could look to see if there is a marriage c1680 (there is a sister Martha baptised 2.2.1681)

Many thanks for your help,

Sandra

Hi Sharon,

Thanks for all the information. It will all be noted and hopefully I will, in the fullness if time, be able to prove or disprove whether they are my relatives or not. However, it does all look v.likely that they are correct.
