Simon, if you buy the certificate as suggested you will have another lead to follow. You will have positively identified the father and so instead of searching for Ralph which is not giving the results you wish for, a search for the father could be undertaken which may or may not yield more results and help break down your brick wall.

I forgot about that post it was from March last year.

I must have discounted him then, but I found him yesterday whilst looking a combination of Heatley and Heys names.

John Heatley 1813 mother I believe was Mary Heys/

John Heatley's children had Heys as their middle name.

I admit I have not read all the way through this thread so forgive me if it has already been suggested

Could Ralph Heatley Heys be illegitimate?

The reason I ask is because I have certificates which the middle name as been the father's when the person was born outside wedlock.

His father appears to be George Heatley Heys and mother Mary Parker

married in Leyland, St Andrew.

The Heatleys and Heys are all from there originally.

Henry Heys must be an Uncle to Ralph

Is he Henry Heatley Heys I wonder.

I think this is why I am confused the name Heatley and Heys seems to be interchangeable between related families.

His Mum and dad are there

So Henry Heatley Heys is his dad from Whittle and his mum is Elizabeth

So george Heatley Heys and Mary Parker are some other members of the family

The Heatleys were / are RC

Raikes Hall then became a Roman Catholic Convent School, until it moved to Little Layton in the mid 1870's

This has to be the same family related to the Heatleys of Brindle and Whittle

Just need to work out how these people link to John Heatley 1813 and to Captain William Heatley

All RC all from Whittle and Brindle or Preston
