Evan Heatley above is in a GR members tree. I have messaged them to find out if they have more family members. This would hopefully at least rule out these Heatleys or at least let me know where they fit in with the John Heatley 1813 and Captain William Heatley.

Evan Heatley born 1787 -- Simon, you *do* have FreeBMD!!

Deaths Dec 1872
HEATLEY Evan 85 Ormskirk 8b 467

Ruled out as John, at least most likely.

JaneyCanuck Report 18 May 2011 20:43

I had this record open in a tab still because I was curious about it ...

1851

Name: Mary Turner
Age: 67
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1784
Relation: Head
Gender: F (Female)
Where born: Clayton Le Woods, Lancashire, England

Civil parish: Walton Le Dale
County/Island: Lancashire

Mary Turner 67
Elizth Turner 37 - Hand L Weaver Worsted
Mary Turner 35 - invalid
Margt Turner 31 - bobbin winder
Jane Turner 24 - Hand L Weaver Worsted
John Heatley 19 - grson born Samlesbury c1831 - Hand L Weaver Worsted
Jane Turner 13 - grdaughter born Samlesbury c1838

Where did Mary Turner acquire a grandchild named Heatley?

Could Mary Turner be a remarried Mary Heatley?

There are three versions of this in the IGI, all submitted:

MARY HEATLEY
Spouse: WILLIAM TURNER
Marriage: 03 SEP 1810 Walton Le Dale, Lancashire, England
Batch Number: A455024

1841 in Walton Le Dale

William Turner 60 cotton weaver
Mary Turner 50
Elizabeth Turner 25
Mary Turner 20
Margaret Turner 15
George Turner 15
Jane Turner 12
Catherine Heatley 25
John Heatley 10
William Turner 5
Jane Turner 3

I guess it looks unlikely, given the date of the Heatley-Turner marriage and the socioeconomic status of the family.

JC I do have Free BMD, I have no excuse

Yes ruled out as John

He died in Ormskirk where the Heatley Heys lived! (a few pages back)

I / we seem to rule plenty out but very little in.

If I could only find out more links between John and Mary and John Heatley 1813 other than the Heys link I would be comfortable that they are related.
I am confident that John senior father is James Heatley with wife Betty Makinson

lancashireAnn Report 18 May 2011 22:47

interesting entry on lan-opc - never seen this notation before. Does it mean 'father of' or should it really be 's' for son?

Baptisms: 30 Jan 1788 St Michael, Kirkham, Lancashire, England
Evan Heatley - f of John Heatley & Ann
Abode: Medler
Notes: Duty 3
Source: LDS Film 1502433

there are a few Evan's on lan-opc - wouldn't uyou think it would have been a fairly uncommon name for a Lancashire family!

Simon

Simon Report 18 May 2011 23:32

JC - I don't think Mary Turner and her Heatleys could tie with Surgeon John Heatley and the house he lived in Dalton House in 1841.

I think you are right to discount them.

Ann
I have never come across an Evan but we have two Evan Heatleys

The births of the children above Evan, Mary and Hugh are all from the same parents but no John.

Was there a John? who became a Corn Dealer?

He must have parents and siblings are these his?

But if John Heatley Corn Dealer and Mary Heys was John Heatley 1813 parents where are Johns siblings.

I know I am restating old questions but I struggle to believe we cant find the answers.

Thanks for your help

Simon

Simon Report 19 May 2011 11:21

I have tried to come at John Heatley 1813 from all angles.

Census Records (with the help of JC and others and a pattern could still lead us to John)
IGI / Lancs OPC etc - no match other than the marriages.
Looked at other people who could be related like Captain William Heatley and Ralph Heatley Heys
Reviewed the witnesses at the weddings.
Bought Captain Williams will
Viewed other Wills and records on line - all these are in this thread.
Created a new tree starting with Hugh Heatley in 1620 and moving forward hoping to get to John Heatley. I still did not find enough evidence to link John Heatley to Hugh Heatley.

Unless anyone has anymore ideas I am going to halt this search for a while.
If I have time I will go to Preston Records Office and check / re-check the births in Preston, Salmsbury, Whittle and Brindle for around 1813 to see if I can find a John with parents John and Mary.
I am fairly confident that Johns parents would not have been weavers or Ag Labs they would have had money so if I find a John and Mary with son John who are landowners or business people they should be a good match.

Thanks to everyone who has helped me on this search.

did you read this article

Multiple News Items .

concerning the court case of the disputed will

gives a lot of family information

Simon

Simon Report 27 Jan 2012 20:41

Yes i read the article but still can't find a link from Captain Heatley and Surgeon John Heatley 1813

I still can't find John's parents for sure without that I can't go back.

I found all these other Heatleys in the Catholic Records and thought I would be able get to John Heatley that way but not so far.

Frustrating.

Could you please cut & paste the newspaper article into this thread.
