Find Ancestors

PETER BAULF 1770/1775

I am looking for his Birth Certificate all contacts show the year as 1770 but info from his Burial Certificate Dated 1825 shows his age as 50yrs which gives year of Birth as 1775. Not knowing is driving me up the preverbial wall. Ann what help can you give me please? Thomas b 1922

Hi Anne please can you help me find any info on the marriage of Robert Waghorn born 1806 to caterine, sorry only have her first name. They were on the cenus in1881, also cannot find any death records i have bee trying for a long time. Then found your offer of help,maybe youcan thank you for your time. Steve

Thank you for the reply, I have found the previous generation on Ancestry London Parish Records, and a kind Lady at Greenwich Coucil found me the next it's just this couple I can't find. Still I will get there some how.

Unfortunately the only way to find burials in the 1900s is to contact the Greenwich councils and pay for a search of the burial records. Most of the church yards where full, and the cemeteries in Lewisham and Charlton where used as well as Woolwich. The search is appx £40 now.

Thank you for this kind offer, I am looking for the deaths/Buriels of James & Martha Lock. In 1911 they were living at 54 Conway Road,Plumstead, aged 71 & 66,The next generation are buried in Plumstead Cemetery.

Peter's occupations have been obtained from the baptism records of his children . these records were found at the london metropolitan archives. in 1807 they lived in east lane and by 1815 they had moved to Queen street Greenwich

I have the baptism record of George Thomas Shepherd at Union Ind Chapel in Sim Alley off Church Street Woolwich in1823, place of abode as Plumstead and parents Joseph and Mary Shepherd. I am hoping there may be a record of their marriage in the area or maybe siblings baptised at other churches. George died on 24/05/1865 in Bexley Heath, his name is spelt Sheppard on the death cert.and on his marriage cert in 1844 to Ann Lee, Is there a burial record for him please?

Whoops sorry Anne hope your A1 now, thanks for that and yes I did know about her Aunt Ernestine, and also have a copy of her fathers Army record but only for when he enlisted and his marriage cert. Ernestine Smyth/e the opera singer on the census is shown Prussian BS, but RA concert records state from Montreal Canada, that is where she married James Smyth/e.

Thanks for all your help with this and I will let you know if anything comes up trumps.

She was probably named after her aunt Ernestine Smythe, a (famous) soprano opera singer, who came from Montreal Canada?
Did you know about that??
So I firmly believe that was not her registered name, but the name her family called her, and she used it permanently.Have you tried for her fathers Army records, that would have all the details of his family on that, just a thought.

I wonder if Ernestine could have been registered under one name then always referred to by Ernestine, that's the name on her marriage cert.

Do you think that could have been a possibility.

RED: Woolwich , which comes under Greenwich now.
They have a web page, but I warn you, the cemetary search is a bit hit and miss. I paid £30, and all I got was a phone call to say that they couldnt find my relative.!

Unfortunately I dont haverecords as late as that. The only way to find him is by contacting the council, and paying for a cemetary search.Most of the Church graveyards where full in Woolwich by the 1890s

I am new to this game but hope you can help me. Have been searching for my Gtx Grandfather PETER BAULF b 1770/1775 Buried 26/08/1825 aged 50yrs in
Greenwich Area. Have Burial Certificate from Kew.
He was married to MARY RATTLE b1778 d1855 1831 Census born Church Lane Greenwich.
Would be more than grateful if you can help I was Born in 1922 Lubbock Street New Cross and brought up in Charlton now live in Preston Lancs.
