Hi Frances
Have you got access to the 1871?. If yes, I would suggest trying this for starters. Wright Booth 1871. This shows his mother as a Mary A Booth aged 30 living in Dewsbury/Batley which is on the outskirts so to speak of Leeds. -JLe.
Edit - have checked this out - please ignore

Frances

Frances Report 29 May 2010 15:57

I appreciate it's a a bit asking for the moon but I am looking for a mother for

Births Dec 1873
Booth Jane Leeds
9b 470

who I think comes up in 1881 as
Henry GOZZARD
Head M Male 39 Leeds, York, England Bricklayer
Clara GOZZARD
Wife M Female 37 Gornal, Stafford, England
Jane BOOTH
Niece Female 7 Leeds, York, England Scholar
Dwelling: 6 East Grove Street, Leeds, Yorkshire
Lower Gornal is next to Dudley

I seem to have exhausted the 'neice' connection with no suitable mother, so I am trying a new tack while waiting for a birth certificate!

Frances

Frances Report 29 May 2010 16:07

Hi Nicky, I have checked the 1881 for Polly in the family you put up and she has granddaughter status!
Richard c.1841 doesn't show either.......
Could be Richard's name has become Robert as the rest fit in 1881
Hannah MIDGLEY (Head) W Female 68 Holbeck, York, England Charwoman
Robert BOOTH Son In Law U Male 40 Leeds, York, England Cloth Presser
Selina MIDGLEY Dau U Female 26 Holbeck, York, England Weaver Flax
Mary BOOTH Dau M Female 43 Holbeck, York, England Charwoman
Harry BOOTH Son U Male 18 Holbeck, York, England Cloth Presser
Polly BOOTH Grand Daughter U Female 11 Holbeck, York, England Scholar
Harry BOOTH Grandson U Male 13 Holbeck, York, England Scholar
Lucy BOOTH G Daughter U Female 8 Holbeck, York, England Scholar
Arthur BOOTH G Son U Male 2 Holbeck, York, England Scholar

So Jane is not part of this family........

Can someone have a look at this record - it looks like Jane Bouth to me, but I can't see a corresponding birth, so I'm thinking this could be Jane Booth

Hi Choccy..... Unfortunatly the image does look like Boutte......with a question mark after Leeds as place of birth.. Can`t find a Jane Boutte birth in Leeds c1873....

But I found this

Marriages Jun 1892 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BOOTH Jane Bowles Elham 2a 1709
CADDY Annia Elham 2a 1709
PILCHER Edith Annie Elham 2a 1709
Simmons Thomas Elham 2a 1709 ...

Unfortunatly 3 brides and only 1 groom!!

But can`t find a birth for Jane Bowles Booth

Looks like Thomas Simmons married Edith Annie Pilcher.....so not the groom of Jane Bowles Booth

Thats the same family as I posted for 1901 Choccy...

But is this our "Jane"?

Nicky

Choccy

Choccy Report 29 May 2010 18:15

I'm not so sure they are the 'Booth' family.

Here are a couple of births -

Births Jun 1888 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BOOTT Charles Albert Elham 2a 988

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Births Mar 1891 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boott James Steward Elham 2a 1035

Bit of a coincidence that both Janes were born in Leeds though.

Choccy

Choccy Report 29 May 2010 18:18

possible death of the George born in or around 1881 in Brighton

Deaths Sep 1899 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boott George Alphonse 19 Elham 2a 749

Still a 'Boott'

Not too sure about that one either as George appears to have been born George Alfred and not George Alphonse !

Births Jun 1881 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BOOTT George Alfred Brighton 2b 253
