BatMansDaughter Report 21 Dec 2010 12:03

Hello June,

Sorry I'm not about as much as I used to be. Here's what I found about the James that died in 1918;

UK, Soldiers Died in the Great War, 1914-1919 about James Harvey
Name: James Harvey
Birth Place: Sheffield
Death Date: 9 Mar 1918
Death Location: France & Flanders
Enlistment Location: Sheffield
Rank: Private
Regiment: York and Lancaster Regiment
Battalion: 1/5th (T.F.) Battalion
Number: 241840
Type of Casualty: Died of wounds
Theatre of War: Western European Theatre

So he enlisted in Sheffield, Yorkshire. Although not impossible I would doubt if this is your James from St Pancras.

Due to his enlistment location I came across this marriage (remember though it could be wrong);

Surname First name(s) Spouse District Vol Page
Marriages Dec 1917 (>99%)

Harvey James J Holt Sheffield 9c 1157
Holt Edith M Harvey Sheffield 9c 1157

Now on the 1918 death info I previously posted it stated that his wife Edith Mary was of Great Houghton............ now this birth registration district covers Great Houghton;

Surname First name(s) District Vol Page
Births Mar 1875 (>99%)
Holt Edith Mary Brixworth 3b 107

Without having this James's service papers we may never be sure if this is your James........... however I personally do not think this chap is linked to your Harvey family.
