lorraine a samuel rogers and wife elizabeth ann heywood went to canada think sam was a sailor sam born 1849 elizabeth 1852 i think
around 1870s they went to canada think there was two children but not sure if one died one around 1870 c1868 any help i know at least three daughter born in canada helpppppppppppp

hi lorraine.
i have asked you before about this family.but now i have found her father.
seth brayshaw born 1862,brayshaw fold north bierley yorkshire england.in the 1871-1881 census still at home with his parents.between 1881-&-1885 he must have gone to brooklyn usa,as he had a daughter mary elizabeth brayshaw born in brooklyn usa.in 1885.
they came back to england between 1885-1901.
on the 1901 census it shows seth brayshaw & mary e brayshaw living with his mother mary at old hill top fold north bierley yorkshire england.
would it be possible to find the mothers family in brooklyn usa.

Hi Lorraine, through hard work by 2 members of GR (Dee and Dea) I think I have found my fathers birth and death dates in America, he was born in New York and died in Florida. Can you advise me as to how I can get a copy of his birth and death certificates please.

Vital records registration started in New York State outside of New York City in 1881. Generally, the New York State Department of Health provides uncertified copies of the following types of records for genealogy research purposes:

cant find anything for a seth brayshaw appart from his death and uk census

i see it says on the 1901 that mary was born america and she is listed as g daughter

despite saying on the index that seth is her father it doesnt say that on the actual record so she may not be.

seth is listed a single in 1901, i cant find a birth for a seth brayshaw either was he born under a different name?

I found some more info regarding the Goulds im looking for.

I have an address for James Gould when he was in the military im assuming during WW2.
Sgt James Gould.
112th Engineers
APO 37 Dev
Camp Shelly
Mississippi.


Also Mary Goulds brother Richard Fitzgerald and his wife Rose emigrated to Canada, and im hoping that they will be in the 1911 cnesus

Dear Lorraine,
Searching for Kate Pickering (No middle name) born June qtr 1880 Ashby Z (Leicester).
Emigrated to Canada 11/06/1909 from Liverpool.
Apparently married someone over there, and nobody heard from her since.
Could you possibly find a marriage record for her?
Her father was William Pickering.
In 1901 census she was a lacemaker boarding in Notts.

thank you for looking for mary e brayshaw .her father seth brayshaw was born 1860 22nd oct.father jonathan mother mary smales.i have just found him on the 1891 census.he comes under the robert peters family of north bierley yorkshire,
&they are down as peters or BRAYCHAW.
living at 13 oxley terr,north bierley yorkshire.
mary elizabeth brayshaw is still down as born brooklyn america.
so it can only be from 1885 to 1891,that they came home.

Looking for my G Uncles both sent to Canada by Dr Barnardos.
Parents John Powell and Charlotte Gorely. Spouse William Joseph Powell.

John Edward Powell dob 3/4/1888, Islington, London.
Sailed to Canada 11 Sept 1899 on HMS Orawa. Arrived Quebec 21st September 1899.

Robert Ernest Powell dob 23/7/1890, Islington, London.
Sailed to Canada 31st March 1900 on SS Camborman. Arrived Portland 11 April 1900.

We know they went on to marry and have children of their own, and one of them then emigrated to Chicago USA, but sadly the families have completely lost touch.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
