Hi Lorraine,

Alices' husband was William Charles c1861 he was a civil engineer

They seemed to travel a lot, but it looks like they travelled separately.

Charles arrived in New Orleans 26th March, 1895, on the West Indian from the Panama

He arrived back in the U.K. 6th April, 1895 on the Etruria,

Can I also ask another question, I have been unable to find their marriage in the U.K., can you see if they married in the U.S.?

Thanks, Joy

Lorraine

Hi Lorraine

Trying to find out what happened to Frances Ellen Dunstan who was included on the passenger list for 1926 sailing to Boston/New York on the Samaria. She was born in Manchester in 1872 and was married to Frederick Dunstan.

Her maiden name was Purselove. She was (according to the passenger lists) going to live with her son John Price who lived at 622 Post Road, Pennsylvania, but do not know any John Price in our history. Is there any where I could find out what happened to her when she got to USA.

Must admit, all the brilliant helpers on GR have got me most of the info here but I'm not sure how to attach this to that earlier thread!

Thanks

Lorraine

Hi

Wonder if you wouldnt mind taking a look at the following for me. I can find nothing on him at all!

I cant find anything on my man after his marriage in London to Marie Fletcher 1943. The marriage did not last and I have lost him after this

I really would like to trace him in both directions please

Marriage cert details:

John Arthur Powers (Corporal M 59518 RC ASC) 1912c, father Paul Arthur Powers (Engineering designer)

Witnesses: Leula Belinger & J Busk (I think these people may have been dragged off the street to witness the shot gun marriage)

Address in 1943: 246 Turnswater Drive, Olympia, Washington

Thanks so much

HI Lorraine,

I am trying to find out some information on my great uncle which I believe during the first world war joined the canadian army. His name was Charles Rix born 1895 in West Ham. Father was William Rix and mother Jane Rix. Charles had a number of brothers and sisters but an elder brother (George Rix) was already living in Canada but he was a preacher and did not join up. Unfortunatley I do not know which year Charles joined up.

I hope you can help.

Thanks
Steve

Hi Lorraine

Thank you for all the info you gave me on Frances Ellen Dunstan last night.

Like you, I am unable to trace her after she arrived in USA, even though we have addresses for her.

Don't know anything about her two sons in the name of Price, though!

Anyway, thanks again!

Thank you Calhame, I have never seen that web site before.

Thank you Lorraine, Its all good information and I have not seen any of it before.

I was wondering, as I now have the correct regiment and number for Charles. Is there somewhere I can look up records of while he was in the army?

Thanks
