I am trying to find information about the subject.
He is my great grandfather, he died in 1961 Wanganui, New Zealand my birth town. I found this web site that could possibly be him if the Charles mentioned ended up in New Zealand. I have no other data on his parents or siblings, also on 1881 Census with mother and siblings

Thanks Ann
I'm trying to prove that he is my Charles, like when did he leave England and end up in New Zealand, did he stop off anywhere on the way etc;

Hi Craig,
Just replying to keep you in the loop (so to speak). The boards are a bit mixed up at this point.

Anyway,knowing zero about NZ genealogy-is this the death of your gt grandfather?
1961/39372 Melville Charles Albert 95Y
1901/5183 Mary Ann Franklin Charles Albert Melville

Would his death cert list parents names??

Craig Report 22 Nov 2010 04:48

Hi Maureen
That's him alright, got all that data, given all the Franklin data.
I have never even attempted to get a copy of his marriage or death certificate. I'll have to do that.
There is a possibilty that his daughter (Jessie Gertrude Melville) my grandmother on my Mum's side was adopted. When she applied for her pension many many years ago there was no paper war on her. I'm told it was a performance to get her pension.
