The person who registered the death should be on the certificate, it could be a relative or it could be an official

You'll have to take a chance and buy it to be sure

hi ginny
thank you for the information i think i will bite the bullet and order the certifcate.
Is there anyway i can look at the certifcate before i buy it because it is alot of money to pay for a certifcate and to find out if it is the wrong one

Hi Susan, I had a look at your other thread and I am wondering why George waited so long before marrying for the second time if his second wife was the mother of your aunt but not of your father who was born later. Until you find a death for Lily your only reason for thinking that George was a widower was because that is what he stated on his second marriage.

Susan, I don't think that I would order that death certificate just yet. While I am a great believer in buying the certificates to work from fact, I just don't think that there is enough "evidence" that this is your Lily. Hang on until you get her marriage certificate please. When you get that we can try to find her birth and find her with her parents in 1911. Her marriage certificate will hopefully give you her father's name and occupation and we can work from that.

What do the other helpers think on this please?

hi rootgatherer
i have got the birth certifcate of my fathers and of my aunt on my dad's birth certifcate it say that his mother maiden name was lily may taylor and on my aunt birth certifcate it say her mothers maiden name was alice may everitt.
I have talk to my dad's cousin and she told me that my grandfather george lockwood robinson was married before he married alice may everitt but his first wife left him.

Well what I was trying to say tactfully was How do we know that George was a widower and not a divorcee? We don't really know for sure and widower was considered to look better on a marriage than divorcee!

As Flick has pointed out at the start of this thread, we don't really know that Lily died as a Robinson. If Lily and George divorced then she may have remarried. We really need to try to find her exact date of birth first. So please don't buy that death certificate yet as you rightly say it is a bit expensive if it is the wrong Lilly. Let's try to establish a few more facts first.
