Well I know there is no actual family connection but I would LOVE to know what Henry Snape died of !!

Dea

Dea Report 20 Jan 2011 21:52

I just have to say - in defence of the ketchup butties - when I was a girl (MANY years ago), we used to go to the shop for penny cobs !!

They were hovis, or round crispy rolls etc !

I used to love the round crispy rolls and would bite off the top, put my little finger in and scoop out all the soft inside, then fill them with tomato sauce and eat them up !!!

That is what you call a 'ketchup buttie !!!!!!!!!!!!

Yummmmm !!

No, not sad Dea. It's an unsolved mystery. He is there in 1901 as a supposed relative. He isn't nothing to the family. If I were Bobbo I'd get his death cert, and hope it says something useful about the informant. I simply couldn't rest without it.

Ah, a chef. Hmm. A chef who feeds his kids ketchup butties.

Can't you fetch home a few leftovers from the kitchen? The odd few mushrooms a la grecque, or maybe a bit of salmon mousse.

I used to work with chef-lecturers, taught on hospitality courses. Aren't chef's supposed to be highly excitable people? No, I worked with some great blokes.

Well, folks, there's a free gourmet meal on Robert coming up - I will post details later.

Incidentally, I was a bit miffed that he was getting his certs sent much faster than me - ordered 8 about 3 weeks ago. I imagined the service was slow over Christmas/New year, but eventually it got to me. Found my order still sitting there on the GRO cos I hadn't completed the process! Awaiting 8 certs tomorrow. Daughter's partner's family. Latest investigation. Proving interesting.

Now, back to those Seals. Beginning to think as Janey said, he was just a friend or neighbour. Maybe a godfather. No, not the Mafia.

Madmeg - I have been 'on a mission too' - I can't fathom this one but I keep trying !!!

Sad or what ???

Well, Robert - If you don't swear, you must be one of them 'proper chefs', NOT one of the egotistical TV sort !!!

I bet you cook up a 'good meal' in a 'civilised' kitchen which anyone could enjoy !!

Good on yer !!

Robert - as Dea says you are such a 'cheery chappie' my guess is a milkman or postman

Ours have always been lovely cheerful people

Where did we get to with the Seal family - I've lost the plot here as to what we are still looking for

rootgatherer Report 20 Jan 2011 13:39

Robert not a doorman but a Doreman!

And why you are wincing, I don't know! Most doormen that I have come across have been charming, cheery people with always a kind word. That said they probably don't have to deprive their kids of sustainance to buy birth and marriage certificates of long dead people!

You should have had Scottish ancestors they are much cheaper to research and they use a lovely naming pattern for their offspring - using maiden surnames of grandparents as middle names sure helps!

Tee hee and I thought you all went away and left me on me own.

All wrong..........I'm a ..........

You all got to promise me not to leave me wondering in this virtual quagmire talking to myself !?

Hmmm....I still have other peeps that need sorting like THE Wife's side.....ie Bryan......Wrench.......and Makinson.

The Bryan one is wicked her Grandad was a Bryan who married an Irish lady called Dargan but there are WADS of name changes, like was Dargan really Dargen or was she Devaney and why, then there was Dolan who was probably Doolan ect OOOoooo what a minefield! They were half Catholics and half protestants, I know that because some wedding photo's were cut in half ----- COR! Some were scribbled out so lot's of conflicts going on there. JUICY.

Meg, thought about the children's home bit but I reckon he was in an Derbyshire home as he was around 3 when cast out ooooer ( Cyril that is ) Poor little scamp!

I think that oooh ooooh oooh Miss Grace was a bit of a naughty woman, god only knows what went on in her household.

ROOTGATHERER.....a doorman?????? Winces at the thought !! :)))

I wondered about that too Mary but the other day when he said he was off to work, the time didn't fit in with a Bobby's shift pattern.

Whatever his job, it doesn't look like it is a nine to five.
